I am curious about if there is any certain order that drivers should be loaded after reformatting and installing Win98SE.
    My system consists of:

    AMD 2000+ w/ 512meg
    Geforce4 ti 4600 w/ Rastops Mc 801HR monitor
    Soundblater Live! Platinum
    Philips CD/RW 800 seriers burner
    Zoom V.92 dialup modem
    1 - 45 gig Western Digital HD
    1 - 40 gig Maxtor HD
    Saitek X35T/X36F joystick
    HP deskjet 500 printer

The reason I'm asking is because it system is very unstable (tends to crash alot: especially when I'm online). The Internet Explorer windows freeze, and I have to reset. Also.... The joystick drivers dont always load in when the computer is turned on OR reset.
One other thing, do you recommend Win98 or Win98SE? I have both, so which is better?
    Any help would be wonderful

Theoretically, it shouldn't matter. If there is a driver that is buggy, it could have an impact.
But it is doubtful changing the order would help.

I would look to see if you can update any drivers that may not be current. After that, I'd
check for software patches as well.

Next, I'd try not using the drivers you can get away with for a while, then add them one at
a time and use the PC for a few days to see what happens. If that is the problem, you'll
    most likely find it.

Also, how long have you had the OS and system installed and running? Microsoft OS's
(especially 9x and earlier) tend to become unstable over time. As a last resort, I'd try a
fresh install of everything. That has solved my problems on several occaisions.

You don't mention your psu or memory they tend to cause a machine to lock up alot esp with a gf4 and an amd in there. Best bet is to just load the gfx driver to test it, if its stable add another part i.e soundcard at a time until you find the part that causes the problem as kanuslupus stated.

I've seen a good many tips, especially on the 4-in-1 drivers, a search at Google Groups or Via Hardware will bring some up.

I find 98SE very stable on my system, though it was terrible when I first upgrade-installed it over 95b.

Doesn't matter which is loaded first.

I normally just install video then sound before anything else. Just because I like more than 16 colors in the beginning and who can live without sound.

The installation order doesnt matter. :D

As dwace mentioned, the order doesn't matter. The only thing that I recommend is to reboot after each driver install.
