Don't think that braking isn't top on my priorites, cause it truely is! Drum brakes are utterly useless and I hate them.

A guy local to us put two engines into a VW Mk1 Golf. He put a 2.0 16v engine in the front and a 1.8 16v engine in the rear both coupled with their own turbo charger and NOS. The car shunts an amazing 600kW (800HP, I think)! It does 0-100kmph in under 4 seconds and has run a 10.6 second quarter-mile. The calculated top speed (according to gearing ratios) is an approximated 240kmph! Here is a phenominal video (765Kb) of the car.

    Ha ha, true dat!

I do belive I know why that engine looks a little odd.

Notice the oil filter near the top. Thats a S works engine. Could possably have a little nugget of gold there.

    Our little ... nugget?

Why do you say a nugget of gold? i am very new to mini's, whats so special about our motor? :eeek: ill check the engine number when i have some time to see what data i can get about it, any idea about a url i can visit to check mini engine numbers and what specs they had?

BTW, thanks for the continuing support regarding our project, and for the pearls of wisdom like the one above.

Went to go check the engine number now and as it stands:
    10H705E 7408

It wasn't in the list. But from what I can make out, this is/was a high compression engine, am I correct?

    10H looks like a 1098cc engine, 1275 should start with a 12.

Looking at it again, I also noticed that. Never take someone's word for something. We were told this was a 1275, and it appears that it isn't. I will take measurements of the bore and stroke of the engine tomorrow.

I'm always sceptical of backyard mechanics...

As an aside on the oil filter issue, I was at the NEC car show yesterday and saw a Morris Minor with the oil filter at the top like your engine. Its an A-series but with it being RWD I don't think it shared the same block with the Mini.
