most likely the LED you are using is not bright enough and the mouse is having trouble 'seeing' using its eye

try to get the brightest one you can find, normally named 'extreme' or 'ultrabright' that should solve your problem

also check your solder points, make sure they are good and not loose or something

might also be a loose wire on the USB connector inside the mouse, make sure this is seated correctly, push it down a bit

    good luck

If unable to find a brighter LED, you could use two...I've seen that done before, although I don't remember what mouse it was.

Was yours posted somewhere with pics?

All I remember is that the two led's were stacked on top of each other...

Red and blue LEDs have different voltage drops, so running them in parallel, only one will light.

Mine is working fine, I used a Nichia blue that's rated 3000 mcd I believe.

I'm just guessing, but I bet the red one I pulled out is at least 6000 mcd. It's noticeably brighter than the one I put in.

Also, I just took a peek at that guide, you sure don't need to break the tab off the LED holder. You can release the LED and keep the tab intact to hold the new one snugly in place. Did you break yours off? Maybe that's hurting your performance.

Hmm I have a $10 off $10 (purchase or more) Staples coupon that Office Depot accepts, and Office Depot has that Logitech on sale for $14.99 minus the coupon=4.99+tax....should I get some? I already have a dual optical but its too nice to even think about breaking open......I can post the coupon so anyone else may use it, but YMMV :D
