Hi everyone, need a bit of advice here. I've been looking around for a new keyboard, and the G15 caught my eye. I noticed that the rev 2 is a bit different, and wanted to know people's experiences/ opinions on it?. The reason I ask is that its on the Today Only deal at Scan, for £47. Thanks in advance for the help.

I've got a g15 rev 2 and it's great. The feel of the keyboard and buttons is great and the LCD screen is a must for me now. I have Everest Ultimate running to monitor my system and you can design your own LCD applet. Mine displays uptime, cpu temps and % used, ram % used, and a host of GPU stuff. FRAP and mumble both support the LCD also. BF:BC2 makes brilliant use of the LCD. My only complaint is that the legs only have 1 position. You can either have it raised or not. No multiple height.

    Cheers

Thanks, the legs probably wouldn't bother me, I use a wad of post-its to lift my keyboard :D How do you feel about the macro keys? Like, are they useful, are they enough?

Heh, I've been real tempted to buy it each time it pops up on TO on scan, but I can't resist any longer!

    As a owner of a G15 R1 and a G15 R2. I think the LCD is pretty useless.

I would have gotten the G110 if it was out during my purchase of the G15 R2

So far the LCD is good for as a clock and for BF:BC2 where it tells me my ping and KDR in real time. Nothing important but something to look at when im dead.

I actually like my G15 R1 more in the sense it has 18 G keys instead of 6. 18 G keys was basically a free G13 on the left side, I used to map single buttons on the side but now I only use macros for the R2.

The only reason I switched to the R2 was because the keys were fading. All the FPS keys were fading and the keys are louder. So I got the R2 which looks better and has more durable coating on the keys and quieter. Orange isn't a bad color either but the LCD is useless IMO.

The G110 on the other hand has 12 G keys, twice more than the G15 R2. Not quite 18 but I would like that instead. What I really like is customizable backlight. Orange gets boring sometimes. Also the G110 apparently has newer keys, I haven't tested them out but I heard they were quieter and felt different to the G15 R2 keys. G110 is cheaper since you don't get a useless LCD screen.

I can't recommend the G15 to anyone at this point. The G110 has my recommendations though. If you find them on sale then whatever.

Really like my G15 r2. The LCD is very handy for Coretemp in games to keep an eye on my Watercooling loop's temperatures and it's a clock too!

I had and very much liked my G15 Rev2 until the space bar stopped working properly. It lasted heavy use (no beating/spillages, mind) for a couple of years, so I guess it was a good board nonetheless. Since that I've had Roccat Arvo and Sidewinder X4 and both have more pleasing typing touch.. Atleast out the box.

I've had some bad experiences with Logitech on my G15 rev1, so that's put me off Logitech as a company personally. The keyboard was OK, but I must admit, I don't miss the screen now. People who have it say they can't live without it. That is, until they try another keyboard and realise it's more of a convenience or gimmick rather than something they need. :)

i bought a g15 about 2 weeks ago, i was put off logitech by my 1st keyboard by them the MX3200 (wireless input lag was stupid and key strokes were unbearable. ) went to curry's digital to try out some keyboards and while testing them out found the g15 to be the most comfortable. Only thing i find is using the esc key or the left-ctrl button, I keep pressing the macro buttons because I use the edge of the keyboard to find them) but now used to it and I do spend a lot of time coding on it find it very comfortable. The LCD is useful but not necessary, would love to get BC2 using the LCD display ( just out of curiosity ).

I actually missed out on it, because the posts were a bit "meh" last I saw. And then a new deal comes along (check the top of today only) thats perhaps even better! That, and the few more replies in favour of it means I might get this deal instead! Its nearly as good as the one a few months back, a G15 and G500 for £70. Its pretty much that deal, plus some speakers and a bit. I doubt the speakers are gonna be great, but I don't have to use them.

    So....is the G500 any good? :)

G500 is brilliant. i got G5 for £20 over 1 year ago, still loving it. if my G5 breaks, i'd want a G500 to replace it.

£89 for those Logitech goodies seems like an excellent deal.

Check out the Cooler Master Sentinel. Yes I know, Cooler Master makes mice? Well only this one.

I just got one to replace my G9 and it is fantastic. It is cheaper than the G9 and G500 with all their features and a bit more. The grip is closer to the G500.

excellent keyboard. and fantastic service from Scan as always.

only grip is the volume up key is a bit stiff, and i can't find a MSN chatting app for LCD.

the G keys seems okay, using it for launching programs and other general stuff, using LCD for BFBC2 stats and FRAPS shows a log of FPS's. SirReal's app is okay, but don't like it's too cluttered, too much information.

also, i keep pressing the G keys instead of ECS. takes some getting use to.

finally, the feel of keys are REALLY nice. if you've used the average Logitech keyboard, you'd know they feels good, the keys on the G15 are superb.

The rev2. is a much better looking keyboard than rev1. Smooth keystrokes, the backlit orange is softer on the eyes during late night energy drink fuelled gaming sessions and you can see exactly whats shaking with your RAM and CPU....what more could you want (except perhaps a £20 price tag!)?
It does take a bit to get used to mashing the G keys instead of Ctrl or Esc tho but SOOOO worth it especially when you get the wife to buy it for you ^^
