I've just built a new computer, and I couldn't find any of my current favourite mouse (the MX510), so I picked up a G5 insted. Everything was going fine on Friday, when I first built the system, but now the G5 appears to be refusing to pick up any movement; the mouse buttons and the scroll wheel work perfectly fine, but moving the mouse has no effect. As far as I know, nobody has touched the system or the mouse, and I've installed nothing since I left it on Friday night. Any ideas, or is the laser/sensor FUBAR?
Sounds like the mouse is gone. BTW: It helps us if you tell us what you've done in your original post.
I love my G5, but had to get my first one RMA'd because of a problem where it would not detect certain buttons intermittently. Took me ages to figure out it was a hardware problem. They are very good about replacements, though, where I am (USA) they will ship you a new one with very few questions asked (make sure you stress to the guy you call that you've uninstalled/reinstalled their drivers--even if you've never installed them, just go through their script and they will send you a new mouse). Once you get one that works, I promise you'll love it!
I was loving it for the first ~12 hours. The DPI setting buttons are super handy for me when I'm playing CSS; I can go lowsense at long range with a single button press
I've been having similar problems with my mx1000. It will work fine for a while and then it stops registering movement. I have to do a full reboot to get my mouse back. sux.
