Burnout, I had the EXACT same issue with my first Revolution. I took pictures of it, along with my invoice, and put it into a warranty claim to Logitech. 4 days later I had a brand new Revolution sitting on my door step, no return of the original mouse required. While I agree the mouse shouldn't have that kind of issue, Logitech has been superb with RMAs for me in the past. I also had a speaker channel go out in my first set of Z-5500's after about a year, and they sent me a new set out after I returned the control module. I still use the speakers with a cheap receiver (it was the amp channel out, not the speaker) without any issues.
I have a better idea! RMA it, and Logitech send you a new MX revolution, then you MOD the OLD one (as Logitech doesn't want it), and now you have 2 MX revolution Oh yea, more on the Logitech awesome service. I have the Logitech Z-3 speakers.. it was OUT of warranty. I called Logitech and they offered me a big discount to buy new ones from there web site (free shipping), which ended up being cheaper then other stores, despite having a higher price tag. No mater what, I will always buy Logitech products. Just the service is worth the money of their product.
you really should have called the support when i rma my mouse was amazing oh and don't mod your hand... well you can just don't use the dremel
Huh. I have a VX Revolution, and in two years it's barely shown a single abrasion in that same rubberized segment. There's one from where it keeps coming into heavy contact with a zipper in a bag pocket that I keep shoving it into, but that's really it. The whole thing coming off, though... that's pretty appalling. Hope Logitech's service works out for you. - Diosjenin -
You had a MX rev for more than 3 years? I think the battery would ware out before that, which at that point you order a new MX revolution from Logitech RMA service.
Definatley, Logitech have provided me with the best support out of all the companies i've dealt with, Asus being the worst, i broke the wrist support on my G15 keyboard, well, when i say broke, the clip that holds it to the keyboard is broken, and i'm sure if i sent an email they would send me a replacment. To sum up Logitech it's, Great Quality Products, Excellent Customer Support 10/10 Sam
Don't count on it - I've had an MX1000 in daily use for 4+ years now and it's still got enough charge for about 5 days of mousing.
I've never been able to fault Logitech's customer support, I had an MX800 mouse out of warranty, when the AC transformer to the charging station broke, I wrote them an email asking where I could buy a new one, within the day I had an email back asking me for my address and within a further 2 days I had a brand new free transformer turn up at the door. Don't think the mouse had even ran out of power. hope the RMA goes well
Well if logitech send me a new one, i will mod this one! Alot of you guys who have been sent replacements live in canada, anyone in the UK recieve such service? Or have you guys had to send stuff back. Ive got a 3D connexions space pilot that is showing simular signs of wear, and not to abuse there exellent service, i could also do with that being replaced.
Can I ask what you actually use the scroll wheel on the side for? I can't think of any use for it, but I'm thinking about getting one of these mice.
Well the side scroll wheel is actually a switch on springs, which goes a bit up and down, and you can press it in at the default position. See it as 3 buttons. Here are some uses: - Switch weapons in game - Switch application (Flip 3D) - Zoom in/out a page/document - Center press: maximize/restore a focused window. The Logitech Setpoint software offers you the ability to customize that switch (among other mouse buttons) and has a per application manager put in place, so that between each applications the buttons do something different.
It is a really nice mouse, with more buttons than i need tbh, one feature i like is the top button behind the scroll wheel, high light some text, hit that button and its instantly brings up google with the search already done. Epic little time saver. Also got a MX510, over on my render machine. Still works but feels slow as Sh*t compared to the MX Rev, even when speed up, mind you my mouse mat speeds up the mouse alot so that may have something to do with it.
Ditto here - Logitech MX on the desktop and VX on the laptop for about 2 years. The only hardware problem I've had is with the MX battery (if its charge level gets too low, it keeps reporting a faulty battery making recharging a pain - refurbished unit so RMA is a no go). The hardware is great but the software stinks. I've installed (or tried installing) SetPoint on 4 different systems and encountered problems every time (the "My Mouse" tab not appearing) with different workarounds needed. It's also a bloated PITA, though UberOptions gives it a little more flexibility. Another thing to watch out for: check that the "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" box (in the Power Management tab of the mouse's Device Manager properties) is not ticked. This made the difference between standby mode consuming 3W or 200W of power in my case.
Well no, not really. It's not superb, but I saw, experience FAR FAR FAR FAR worse. It's still universe away from being like iTunes. If you see no problem in iTunes, then SetPoint will appear fine to you. I never had problems with SetPooint 4. Although, I used to use Logitech iTouch (no NOT the Apple product, that was YEARS before that) under XP, and since I got Vista 64-bit I use Logitech SetPint 64-bit (I got a new Logitech keyboard at the same time). So I don't know how SetPoint is under XP or the 32-bit version. Uhuh... it's check by default here. Both my VX Nano and MX Revolution where on my laptop or desktop. I think you are using Windows XP (because the option is name "Allow this device to wake the computer" under Vista/Win7, am I right? UNLESS, there is a second revision of the mouse which the integrated drivers enable that option by default. It could be that.
Great link AstralWanderer. Having read around a bit in that link it seems that there are two different versions of the MX revolution and the VX revolution, a 2006 model and a 2007 model, perhaps this is one factor in explaining peoples different experiences? I know that I have a 2006 model (the part number ends in 0000). Moriquendi
logitech's support hasn't really been too good for me. they won't replace my mx revolution for one reason or another, and the mouse won't track properly and most of the buttons don't work.
