Because of the recent devaluation of the Pound Sterling (although it's been going up of late), a couple of friends and me have decided to go on a little roadtrip to London to quench our thirst for gadgets.

Next to shopping, we also want to do some touristy-things since we'll be there anyways.

Can anyone recommend places to visit, as well as good shops to go to for the cheapest PC components? We'll definetly be going to Tottenham Court Road and surroundings, as we've heard most electronics shops are in that area.

I've heard driving in the center of London can be a costly nightmare, so what would be the best way to get a 24" screen and a laptop (each) to our hotel?

(PS: Yes, I'll be invading your country, and the eyebrow will cause a ruckus while I'm asleep, I'm sure)

Apart from computer parts, shopping wise, Burlington Arcade whould be a nice place for you to go..

Apart from TCR, not to many other places for PC components, apart from prehaps ordering parts from the internet to your hotel etc.

Great gigs and if you fancy you can sit upstairs and eat looking down on the music and people watching it.

Another if you like photography and walking is walking along the thames. You will pass the globe, the tate modern, st pauls, houses of parliament etc in a few miles walk.

There's a Yoyotech somewhere down totenham court road.

Also round the corner (Charrings Cross somewhere) is all the guitar shops which is a 2 times multiplier.

Oh, we've never thought of ordering from the internet and letting it ship to our hotel, but that might be a really good suggestion. You think it's safe to do that with expensive PC equipment? Like a laptop.

    Yes, yes I am. :p

    Dom, thanks for the suggestions!
Ending Credits, yeah we've already got Yoyotech as a suggestion from someone else, thanks :). I'll let my friend who's into sound equipment know about the guitar shops.

Oh yes tottenham court road is the 'home' of electrics in london. But the cheapest places are of course online for pc bits really. Most wont deliver to a hotel though due to fraud prevention.

Denis are the new owners of Bit-tech, you didn't love the site enough so they sold out to make ends meet.

Simply order everything beforehand and get it delivered to a bit member who lives in London to pick it up from them later?
