The Creative Fatal1ty MKII is by far the best bang for you buck.

How about a pair of Grado SR-60is and an external mic.

A bit clumsier, but the sound quality would probably be higher.

Sharkoon X-Tatic is a great headset. Works on PC, 360 and PS3. Full 5.1. Good build quality.

I have been using the Creative Fatal1ty headset for several years now... can't fault it. Despite what people say they are built incredibly well (have dropped mine several times and no damage), offer amazing sound quality (best bass I have heard on a headset) and the detachable microphone is useful too. All that for under £30. Very good value IMO.

If price is no object then BOSE offer some pretty good headphones too... although no headsets unfortunately :(
