As the title suggests, im looking for a new monitor as mine just doesnt cut it anymore :waah:
I've got about £300 to spend and it must be able to conect to my PC (duhh) my 360 either through component cables or HDMI cable and my freeview box through scart or through an RCA connector (the 3 cables), intergrated speakers aren't required, as i have a new pair so im good there :D

    Thanks in advance (hopefully :p)

I don't know of any 22" that do what you want.

Considered a 24"? There are an increasing number of 24" monitors for less than £300. I was looking for a 22 inch monitor and I ended up with a Dell 24".

2405WFPs do what you want, there can be a bit of frame lag, but I don't have many issues with it to be honest.
MCSCOM have one in stock, they're very good, my mum ordered a laptop from them, it was "misplaced" by City Link en route 3 times, the guy then personally couriered it for her.

well, all 22inch only have the standard VGA + DVI (if not, only VGA on cheap ones). if you want HDMI/Component, you'll have to go 24inch. but 24inch at that price range are the cheap ones. my friend got a LG L245__ (can't remember the last letters), it's got component (for his Wii) HDMI (for his computer) and a VGA. it costed him £400.

i'd say go with a good 22inch, and buy some adaptors, eg. HDMI to DVI. and a TV card to watch freeview.

for good 22inch, LG L226WTQ or Samsung 2232 (forgot the letters). depends on how much you wants to pay for the looks of the monitor.

    The 2405 I linked to is £195 + vat + del = approx £240 inc both

DVI, VGA, Composite, S-video, Component, USB hub, memory card reader. No HDCP but you can split that off easy

problem is, that monitor is very low end. only 1000:1 with 500cd/m2 brightness? that would counter the contrast ratio value to something like 300:1. and 16ms response time! that's too long for gaming

People seem to seriously overrate figures nowadays. It has been proven time and time again that anything under 20ms is fine for gaming. And, how bright do you want this display?!?!?!?!?

why not go for a samsung syncmaster 226bw(22") or the 245B (24")
    the 24" is £305 and the 22" is £210
both have an contrast ratio of 3000:1
    the 24" has 400cd/m2 brightness and a 6ms response time, resolution 1920x1200
    the 22" has 300cd/m2 brightness and a 2ms response time, resolution 1680x1050

and may i mention the Acer P243w VGA, DVI, HMDI (HDCP compatiable). i have a sneaky feeling this is a BenQ screen underneath, and it looks very similar a few Dell screens, (which BenQ make). i paided £250 i believe including VAT

    3000:1
    400cd/m2
    2ms
    1920x1200

however considering what you are connecting up, why not grab a cheap 26in or 32in TV as the xbox 360 display output in 720p, most Tv's now have freeview built in, and a most have a VGA input, or two HDMI inputs, chuck a DVI-HDMI adapter in and you would be all set.

judging that you've been using a 15in screen your graphics card cant be all that to shout about, so it would rule out gaming on a 20in+ screen i imagin.

As the guy below you says, it's not underrated. There's no ghosting, only tearing, I haven't gotten it in ages over component and only occassionally when I used to game.

As said many times, a totally meaningless figure. To see anything over a few hundred-to-one at home you need to be in a pitch-black room with all surfaces painted matte black, dressed in matte black and a black hood covering your face.

....is that a dull grey, dull darker grey or just black, oh wait the scene just changed and i didn't see any of that! ROFL!

i bought my screen in the vage hope that when it ages the if the contrast ratio starts to decrease over time, i might get a little extra working life from it. having said that the back light is more likely to go tits up before that will happen! LOL!

Again, look at TV's i think they will be better suited for your demand.

The figures are important up to a point. Then it comes down to price.

Never go for anything below an 8 bit panel, panels with a 5ms response are generally 6 bit.

yeah, the card isn't exactly up to much, but it was free, it's a 2600xt (got from a mates dad :D) so i might get a cheap-ish TV or one of these monitors  Btw all i play is UT2004 :naughty:

but im not too bothered about the picture quality, as this Tv i have now has a rather annoying group of dead pixels, bleeding backlight and many more problemes, so it's either a 24 inch or a cheap Tv?

dont forget a brightness ability thats above your 'ambient brightness level' in your work/play space.

most screens sold atm default there brightness to burn your eyes out, this is because alot of screens sold go into office spaces which can be really bright and open.

remember nOOb's adjust your brightness so you can just see your desktop, then up the contrast so you see a nice rich black. your screen will then be perfect for that room. (this will change though out the day)

Get a 24". Definitely. TVs may be good for what they are meant, but in monitor-use they just don't cut it.

And indeed the specified brightness, contrast and especially response time are just bollocks. Especially when talking about cheap monitors, I wouldn't give too much attention to those. It would always be good to see the monitor in action before buying it, so you could decide yourself if they ghost/lag/have too much backlight bleeding.
