    Hi, I am looking for a new Business PC.

    Any ideas on some parts? I was thinking of below but don't know any deal / better brands to go with.

    Case: Standard cheapish case + PSU
    Motherboard: MSI Neo-F P43 (Already have)
    CPU: Dual core 2.0 or above (Needs to be Windows 7, XPM Capable, not all CPU's are)
    Cooler; Stock should be fine.
    Harddrive; 500GB or above, (Not western digital)
    RAM; 4gb, DDR2 2x2gb?
    2x DVD-RW Drives.

    Here's the problem;
    It needs to be able to power atleast 3monitors of res 1280x1024 [Minimum] and 32bit colour, So i was thinking 2 graphics cards? but i have never done this before.

    One other thing is it needs like 10 USB ports due to all my devices.

    Budget;
    £400.

    Can maybe stretch a little.

    What i am looking at so far;

    DVD-RW - http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...2N40+22x+DVDRW-RAM+SATA+Black?productId=34526
    HDD - http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...TA-2+P7K500+Hard+Drive-+16MB+?productId=31456 or http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...+24/7+Ultra-quiet+Hard+Drive+?productId=35316
    RAM - http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...Spreader+(Lifetime+Warranty)+?productId=36837
    CPU - http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...d+Q6700+2.6GHz+95W+(OEM+775)+?productId=33656 (Needs to support XPM, 'Intel® Virtualization Technology')
    GFX: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152203
    Motherboard; MSI Neo-F P43.
    CPU Cooler: ?
    Case: ?
    PSU: ?

    Baaad idea. The PSU is literally the heart of your system, you can't go cheap on this. I also recommend the Corsair 400 watter mentioned above.

    Is the E5200 compatible with XPM on windows 7?
    I was looking at 4gb ram.
    Do i need 2 GFX's? As i will be using 3 monitors.

    I have put some links in the top thread.

    Yep, some corsair will do. As for video cards, just get a dual-slot card that has 4 outputs. Should be cheaper than two cards with two ports each.

    So have you considered the Corsair PSU?

    4GB of any RAM will do fine; just go with the cheapest (Corsair is usually pretty cheap, so go with that).

    The Corsair CX400 also seems ideal.

    The MSI motherboard you have only has 4 USB headers, but you can easily get round that by using a couple of USB hubs if you really need 10 USB devices connected.

    As for the CPU, I'm not sure what you mean by "dual core 2.0", but the E5200 doesn't support Intel VT, so won't work with the Windows 7 XP Mode. The problem isn't confined to the Pentium branded CPUs, and the Core 2 E7xxx CPUs don't support VT either, so you'll have to go for the E8xxx if you want XPM support from a dual core. Though it may be worth asking why you want this and whether you actually need it (i.e. will you be using it for applications that are only supported by XP?). However, I'd highly recommend a Quad if you even remotely think you're going to be multitasking, as you'll really notice the difference. The Q9400 is probably the cheapest quad that supports VT and therefore XPM mode, and is only a little bit more expensive than the E8400, albeit with a lower clock frequency.

    Also, may I ask why you have specifically requested no Western Digital hard drives? They're one of the better HDD manufacturers along with Seagate and Samsung and have never had a problem using them before.

    There is some cheaper ram, will this be any good? Or is it best to pay a few more £ and get some Corsair.

    erm, I will probably go with the Corsair psu and a customed case. (With front USB and audio.)

    Yeah, i'll stick with my MSI and get a few hubs.

    Ah, bummer i was looking forward to an E5200 but there are better out there yet more expensive i'll have a look round for an E8xxx or a Quad. May i just ask where you found out about the compatibility of the XPM?

    I've had problems with Western Digital before, when adding other drives.
    (I've got an Hitachi 320gb now and it's great.)

    You just need to make sure it supports Intel's Virtualization Technology; check out this list for the ones that do and which don't (this is also an interesting read).

    However, a news report here states that Intel will be updating some of its lower-end processors (which includes the E5300 and E5400, but not the E5200) to support VT, and they should be around soon if they aren't already. However, I'm not sure how we're supposed to be able to distinguish between the two different revisions of the same chip.

    I now need a new motherboard with atleast 2x 16x PCI-e slots and atleast 5 PCI slots.

    Any ideas?

    I don't think that's physically possible.

    Yeah, I don't know of any motherboards, at least in the ATX form factor, with 2 PCI-E x16 and 5 PCI slots; there just isn't enough PCB to fit them all on. Most come with only 3 PCI slots maximum, and for a good reason too. Why exactly do you need 5 PCI slots?

    A little Googling reveals this one with 5 PCI slots, but only 1 PCI-E x16 slot.

    Well it depends on your budget really. This one has 2 PCI-E x16 and 3 PCI slots, but if that's too much and you can make do with just 2 PCI slots then there are a few P45 boards under £100 which will do fine.

    I need a board with 8back ports so this mean the ones on the mobo and then a PCI port.

    I need 3 monitors so 2x 16xpci-e slots should do this.

    Then i need a serial port.

    And atleast 2 Free.

    I mentioned that there are vid cards that can handle 4 monitors each, so you don't need two cards.
