So I'm looking for a room to rent in the reading area or close to it, I've got the results to filter for 'double room' and my god, every single room, yeah ok, there's a double bed in it, but you can't swing a cat in these rooms I mean what's the point in sticking a double bed in a room, if you there's no room for anything else in it (my desk and pc is 160cm by 1m)? My room at home, is 4 by 4 metres, am I asking too much?
Houses, and thus rooms in the UK are smaller than those in Europe, Infact a study showed that Britain overall has smaller houses than most of Europe. Sam
IIRC most new builds are smaller than the government's recommended minimum... This is what happens when properties are sold by how many 'bedrooms' they have rather than how much overall floor space there is...
I have a 4x5 meter room, and my friends and family all walk in and go "wow your bedroom is Huge". My parents bedroom in NZ is almost as big as my whole UK flat. If you included the ceiling then it literally is. Its just the way the brits live.
upside down and on top of each other.... My spare room is tiny. All the other rooms have ample cat swinging space... not sure how long my cat is, but it can be swung full circle in all but the utility room and office.
That's not a lot if you include bills for a good location. My rent for a studio flat was £350 exclude bills, quite a nice sized studio but it's a studio and it's quite expensive. My rent now is £400 exclude bills, with bills that's £550. But I'm living in a shared house with another person, I do have the 2 smaller rooms though, one for bed, one for the computer and camera stuff. But I'm in Luton, possibly the worst town to live in. Get a mate to share, get a studio. Can you not put your computer desk in the living room, if you must have a 1 bed flat.
I think my room is 2.5M x 2.5M my desk takes up one entire wall ( being made of 2x 1.2 meter desks ) and with them being 80cm deep means I don't have a lot of floor space at all. I also have the step where the stairwell comes up which ive built my bed on this room is WAY to small....
You want a double room, you're being shown double rooms, you want a study on top then ask, C'mon it's a bedroom for the sleeping and the love making and the meheying
He is looking at Reading, a double room in a shared house/flat, which is a lot cheaper than say London. Although they don't state room size some do say large/spacious double and there are quite a few at £550 inc bills on spareroom.co.uk
I kid you not, a mate of mine saw a shower cubicle in the corner of a bedroom advertised as an en-suite. Welcome to the south east of england
Whilst admittedly it doesn't include bills... this is what £550/month gets you in Newcastle... and it's not as if it's a dive in a rough area [which are cheaper...]... it is in the middle of student country though...
