Quite a while ago I was watching some "most amazing magic tricks ever" thing on telly, and there was one trick that really blew me away. there was a woman just standing there and a guy pulls up a sheet in front of her and then snatches it away almost instantly and she's gone. I'm looking for a video of it for someone now and I can't for the life of me remember who it was to find one. Have searched high and low and just get a bunch of pretty irrelevant hits. Any hints?
You're looking for any one of the variants of the "Metamorphosis" trick. BEHOLD!, as David Copperfield demonstrates in all his extravagant glory! -monkey
Yeah, Copperfield had his decade. Then the 1990s ended. Chris Angel was interesting the first time I saw him, but 5 minutes later his whole goth/emo style got on my nerves. -monkey
It's not just his clothing, it's his overall personality. For the most part, his tricks are variants of tricks I've seen before. To be fair, this holds true for just about any magician nowadays. Chris Angel's style just isn't to my taste. -monkey
Wow, I don't know who you've been watching, but it must not be him. His personality that I've seen is he's a family man. Cared a great deal about his father who passed and his mom. Puts his brothers to work and enjoys the heck out of entertaining people. His tricks are unique, which has skyrocketed him to the top of the entertainment industry. How many illusionists walk into the middle of a golf course where there are no possibility of wires, and can levitate 20 feet into the air and move about while at it? Some of the stuff he does may be variations of other tricks, but it's some of his other illusions that have gotten him his own tv series (not just tv specials like David Blain or Copperfield, but an entire series). They are illusions afterall, but a lot of what he does is extremely dangerous and he pulls it off. People have died trying to do what he does.
From the stuff I've seen him do, I get the same impression. Also, youtube is not a magicians friend. People can watch it over and over and eventually they spot the line of sight escape route, or the very subtle hand movement they weren't meant to be watching. A lot of Chris Angel's tricks have been ripped apart, the go-karting one especially. That even got on digg.
