    Hi All,

I'm looking for bits to build me a new PC and Im having a hard time picking the right case.
I have been reading lots of reviews but Im not sure what to buy :miffed:

Basicaly these are my main requirements:

    - Case must be quiet as possible using air cooling. will be placing it in the living room.
    - I would be nice if it has good cable management.
    - Must have exelent coolling.
    - Large graphic cards can be installed without any probs.

Also I prefer a case without any windows or disco lights coming out of itm,..well, I guess a windows isnt that much of a problem but I dont like the lights.
Im willing to spend some money for a quality case.

    Rcomendations are welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sam

Might be worth having a look at the Silverstone and Lian Li cases as well, depending on your budget. look into the A77 and the FT02

I would say have a look at the FT02.

i've got the FT01 in black, without window. believe me its quiet. i have a mugen2 HSF, vapourX 4870 graphics card and a Be Quiet 650W PSU. when speed step is doing its job and my HDDs have spun down (my o/s is on an SSD) i cant even tell theres a computer sitting next to me.
Obviously the fans spin up a bit during gaming, and i've never noticed them when i'm watching a movie - but then the sound tends to be drowning out any noises my computer might make.

anyway, +1 for the Silverstone FT01B

Here is the link to scan. even better - its gone down £20 since i bought it a couple of months ago :wallbash:

also - if you want silence its really worth running the o/s from an ssd. It becomes really noticeable when my hard drives are spinning now - they're noisy compared to my system, but by HDD standards theyre quiet ones.

I've heard the ATCS840 is quiet, but go the Lian Li route and get almost any of their Full-towers, I know they're pretty quiet and do some good cooling as well.

Is the FT02 out already? I cant find it anywhere for sale.

And any suggestions on a good Lian Li case maybe. I do like the looks of most cases.

I looked at the Lian Li PC-A71F and I do like this case very much. The FT02 I cant find anywhere so I guess I have to choose between the ATCS840 and the Lian Li PC-A71F.

    pfff decisions decusions

The FT02 is showing on Scan in surprisingly their large case section
with a price to match.Only pre-order at the moment. It is pretty deep at 616mm.
Only the non window version available at the moment,I'm trying to get my hands on the windowed variety.
Getting available in the states now between$230/250 @1.55 exchange rate about £155
    so lucky them:)

One thing is certain: Once you go Lian Li, you'll have a hard time going back to anything else. Which isn't all that bad since a Lian Li case will outlast *many* builds. :)

I have been looking at the Lian Li PC-A70F and 71F and I do like these cases.
In some reviews everything seemed about perfect on this case except the noise level.

I like it to be quiet as possible. Anyone got any experience with this cases, is noise realy a problem. or is there an other type of Lian Li case wich would be better if noise is an issue?

Well, the main issue here is what is also the main attraction of Lian Li cases (apart from their gorgeous looks and impeccable build quality :)), namely aluminium. Aluminium is quite a bit lighter than steel, which is what the majority of cases is built from.

Not that I think noise will be a big problem, but if anything you *could* put some bitumen mat on the side panels. Generally speaking, make the case heavier. That's what's commonly referred to as "mass loading".

Apart from that, Lian Li cases, especially the latest ones, tend to be better equipped for silent operation than most other cases, with decoupled HDDs and also decoupled fans.

Last but not least, there's ample room for fans in e.q. a PC-A71F. You might think this would make a case noisier, but it's quite to the contrary. The more and the bigger the fans, the slower they can run and the less noise they produce. However, this is not something special to Lian Li cases, but is true for any case which can accomodate many fans.

Lian Li cases are by far the quietest. And they're aluminum! However they are a bit more pricey.

    And forget using bitumen mats!

    BRICKS!!
