So, is there any way I can get DOS 6.2 ? I mean it must be free now, no ? Do any of you think there's a possibility to get my comp ( see specs ) running so that I can play games like EF2000 ?

    Cheers

MS-DOS retails for about a $100 still. However, there is FreeDOS, among others, that work similar to MS-DOS, however require more work to get running, and may not work with everything you need.

Heres an easy way to do it:

Obtain either a windows 95 or 98 install disk, do a dual boot with 9x and xp (what your running now, right?). Then when you want to play a game in dos, switch to 9x, then go to start -> shut down -> restart in DOS. Or you may be able to get away with running it in a windows environment (sp?).

I've done this before, and it works no problem. DOS is bundled allong with 9x/ME, and actualy installs before windows does.

I used to have a windows95b CD but I can't find it. Neither can I find my Win98SE CD ... the only things I have here are WinME, Win2000pro and WinXP HE. Would what is suggested above also work with WinME ?
It just appeared to me that I can forget DOS because me little idiot has a SATA HD and there are no DOS SATA drivers ... :duh:

    Cheers

Yes, that would work as well, to answer your now theorectical question. Windows ME is built on the 9x series engine.

Although if your really interested in getting a DOS I'd look into Free-DOS (or the otehr cariants) see if they can run what you want, as they may support SATA, as they are more current OSes.

I can't see any mention of SATA here on the DOS versions page, but the MSDOS 7 in 95+ supports FAT32 (bigger drives). Plenty of links to the freeware versions.
