im looking for a big 'sheet of heatsink' if you will... something with fairly low profile fins, and a large surface area. i cant think where such a thing would come from. e.g. 1' square, with 1/4" fins? any ideas?
thx morphine i hadnt really thought of looking dark_blender: a bit bigger than that mate, and a helluva lot lower profile.
Let me preface this by saying that opening up a monitor is risky work if you don't know if the huge transformer/capacitors have been discharged. BE CAREFUL! If your looking for heatsinks, older monitors have a lot of them...but, they are small. I "rescued" a dead monitor from the dump and got a lot of heatsinks out of it. The larger ones are about 2" x 2.5", but they have small grooves on the sides so that theoretically you could run a small metal rod to connect lots of them together. Hope this Helps, ~Davy
brad my good man when i said low profile, i meant to say lowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww profile. really thin. if anyone has a thermaltake gf4 cooler, there are 2 types of ramsinks... some fairly big ones, and some that are almost flat. i want a sheet like the almost flat ones. brad, ur heatsink: | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ======== what i want: ¦¦¦¦¦¦ <- and thats 2 layers! mmm ascii art expert this is better:
