    Hi everyone

I've tried looking for these for a while now, and keep finding things which aren't quite right. I've tried normal Google, Google Shopping and eBay. This is what I need:

    1) Fairy lights (as in, reasonably pretty and on a wire not a strip)
    2) Each light on the string is an RGB LED
    3) Each light on the string has four connections: red, green, blue and common anode/cathode

The idea is that I can make my own light controller for it. Does anyone know where to get such a set of lights in the UK? Just so people don't re-post what I've already got, here are some common ones which are inappropriate:

These on ebay. They don't satisfy condition 3, because the LEDs are not controllable: they have an internal controller each that cycles through the colours.

These are the best I've found so far (they satisfy points 2 and 3), but they're not very pretty - it's a strip of plastic with surface mount LEDs attached.

If anyone knows of where I can get what I'd like, I'd be very happy :)

    Thanks

Thanks for the links, but I'm in the UK sadly!

I don't think that will be easy to find, as making them in the way you describe is overly complicated for something that is supposed to just blow in pretty colors. Having that said, I did see something like what you want a few years back, but they were bloody expensive, and I can't remember where I saw them, unfortunately.

Another option is to simply make them yourself. Some cheap LEDs from Ebay, some cables, resistors and heat shrink and you are good to go. Just remember that you need resistors for each color.

    I was more worried that they'd be 110V ;)

Smilodon: thanks - I might have to do that!

A bit of a warning about very cheap LEDs, though. They may not be that reliable, and may have slight variations in color/brightness even within the same batch. Always buy a few more than you really need so that you have some in spare. :)

KustomPC do some handy things, though to get what you wanted you would have to make your own.
