I am looking for a way to use 1 keyboard for 3 computers…. I have 3 desktops and 3 monitors… What I am trying to do is have the same input from 1 keyboard do the same thing on all 3 desktops, all at the same time.(Maybe some sort of USB Y adapter) Example: I open up WORD on all 3 computers, and type a letter… What happens is all 3 computers will type the same letter at the same time.(using 1 keyboard) I have looked into KVM switches, but this only will allow you to switch between 1 computer at a time. Additionally, is there a way to use 2 keyboards (USB) on the same system (second keyboard would act like an extra 108 function keys instead of a standard keyboard.)… Software controlled? (I know there are 180 key set panels out there, but at $320+ I would rather rig up a $10 keyboard and label the keys myself with white out and magic marker)
nope, just do a 3-way hardwire of a USB or PS2 cable. only supply power from one of the PCs, and just put dummy loads across the others. IDK about the independant function key thing though. try searching through sourceforge or wade through google.
For a game that i play. i have mutiple accounts. 1 acct has a seer class, and 3 others are a mage classes. I would like to be able to have the mage classes all cast at the exact same time.
synergy has problems working with games, cuz it either doesn't work or it defocuses the game. IF you were running all three games windowed, then it would work however. just earch synergy. I'm also doubting the morality of doing this however.... can't you just be content and get some friends?
I can vouch for Synergy not being very game friendly. Some games would work just fine, mainly RTSes and RPGs. FPSes performed miserably, as the sensitivty in-game (no matter what adjustments you did) was so high it was impossible to do anything.
The trouble with this setup would be that any decent game would have built-in slight randomness to prevent this, so you had to slightly adjust your player all the time.
Using 2 keyboards on 1 pc isn't really a problem. You could use a PS2 splitter. I don't know how you have to configure it to work properly though...
http://www.provantage.com/tripp-lite-p230-001~7TRPA01C.htm maybe? Excerpt for this artical " This retails for around $50 and is plug-and-play. Simply plug in the adapter, plug in both keyboard devices, and turn on the computer. Both keyboard devices are fully functional and the Y-key key is daisy chainable allowing three or four keyboard devices to be connected simultaneously. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_zdext/is_200406/ai_ziff129295/pg_3
Sadly what i was trying to do was figure out how this guy was doing what he does. http://www.teamwizzy.com Watch the videos to get a better idea. Basically he has it setup some way so that he can cast the same spell on 5 different accounts at the same time. As well as controlling a 6th toon. Yeah so i was bored, Sue me And no, it's not cheating, at least i wouldn't think so, this guy has been doing this for quite some time.
"It'd be easy to build one for PS2 using a PIC" I'm not so sure. I've yet to get a PIC to send keyboard codes successfully. If some sort of external switching was done, then ok.
Not sure about it, since the setup in the link doesn't use any kvm switches or anything, it would seem like the most logic solution is some kind of remote desktop thingie. But I don't know if it is possible I don't have much experience with remote desktop applications.
