Ill be playing a lot more games than just Crysis but im looking to build a gaming PC that will handle Crysis on max settings at MOST. I live in the UK, im just looking for recommendations on parts and maybe the prices i can expect to pay! thank you. Also how about a pc that can just run these specs at MOST - Recommended * Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1 * AMD Athlon 64×2 4400+ or any Intel Core 2 Duo * 2 GB RAM (XP and Vista) * A 256MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900, or equivalent * 5.5 GB of Hard Drive space ^ Thats for Dawn of War 2. I plan on using a 27" HD TV with my pc, will i lose alot of visual quality using a non LDC PC MONITOR?
That is the perfect rig for your money. Will run most games perfectly and will allow lots of overclocking. edit: Oops didn't notice you want to run Crysis... Depending on your screen resolution, you will most likely not get playable FPS on that game on full graphics quality... But basically any other game is OK.
just to be clear. there isn't a single graphics solution out that will handle crysis at max settings on a 22 inch monitor (well maybe the gtx 295), nevermind a 27 "(not even a gtx 295). when I used my tv for my monitor, the graphics quality sucked. the pixel pitch just doesn't match a good lcd monitor.
Yeah, I was gonna say... HDTVs do not have a size/pixels ratio anywhere approaching that of computer monitors. If they did, we would have QuadHD already, and then some. Considering your screen resolution is actually a step down from the resolution of a 17-19" desktop LCD (1440x900), I'm fairly certain that a 4850 + overclocked E5200 could run Crysis at acceptable framerates on at least medium, and probably high, settings. I honestly don't know how much of a stretch it would be to include ultra high settings or AA/AF, but even at high with no AA it would be hard to not be pleased with the visual quality. This is Crysis we're talking about. - Diosjenin -
well knowing your budget would help but what i am thinking is a e8400 (one of the best chips for gaming) 275 gtx
Its a sad fact of the world that Crysis on very high settings costs money. Since its so expensive and only one game, and since your on a budget, maybe concentrate on meeting the needs of other games.
see if you can spear a extra £10 and get this card instead http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-GTX260
Sorry about me being lazy and just posting the link to the guide, here's what I actually recommend: Graphics: Radeon 4870 512mb - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/160969 - £129.99 Mobo: Asus P5Q SE iP45 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150285 - £74.2 CPU : Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148715 - £57.75 RAM: Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143844 - £44.99 Case : Antec 300 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143854 - £46.21 PSU: Corsair 520HX - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114945 - £79.96 Cooler: Akasa 965 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134773 - £13.79 Optical: Whatever HDD: Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/124228 - £44.29 Total: £491.18 + an optical (I feel bad that you guys have to use Ebuyer or Scan or whatever, Newegg is such a better designed site...) 400th post
Might be wrong about this, but better performance for Crysis would most likely be found with an Nvidia card won't it? A 260 can be got at Scan for £150 iirc.
i would also recomend the gtx260- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/161967 this one is cheap and will be a good performer on crysis. When you do change your monitor to a beter res one(if you do) this will be fine up to 1680-1050
Ironically at lower resolutions your CPU is more of a bottleneck. So, if you can spare another £25 quid for a quality CPU cooler, you should be able to overclock the E5200 to near 4 Ghz, that will give you a good boost at your TV's resolution An Akasa 966 Blue Aurora is a good choice or take a look at CustomPC mag's latest issue and their cooler review. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Akas...h-Ali-fin-Heat-sink-Lo-noise-Blue-LED-PWM-fan
