    Looking good.
But the problem with the streams is that I don't like to watch TV on my PC, fine for recording, but I stream it to my XBOX to play it on me TV.

Also what kind of quality are we looking at here? Personally I always go for HDTV 5.1 files, 2x the size but a lot better to look at

i think is a step in the right direction, purely for the release times of the shows. it will hopefully be the start of similar release times for new series from the US. and hopefully stop people form resorting to P2P for downloads.

Depends on the quality as to wether I will bother or not. Also if they are geographically locked then there is no hope anyway :p

As great as this is, you know it's gonna turn out crap because:

    a) WMP (10) only, groan
    b) filesize and quality will be piss poor, not Xvid/h264 HD + AC3. It would be nice to have the option but I bet you'll only end up with something ipod size res or incredibly compressed by someone who has no idea about compressing digital video.

The only time I'm going to take internet downloads of shows, free and espeically for pay, is when they are at or near HD quality. Why watch crappy streaming video over the internet when I can hook up the antenna to my computer and get the crispy HD version for nothing?

    Thats what they think.

I still don't think this will work though, the majority of people who're going to bother to download shows can get them any time any place anyway. The best service will win out, and bit torrent currently offers the best service, and its virtually free too.

Forget HD, 5.1 etc. When will online shows start using subtitles? So far the only show I've ever seen with any was Click Online. Even then it was only a short trial, and despite the positive response to it, they don't seem to have taken it any further.

Had to read the article quickly, as the image is quite on the verge of blatantly NSFW...

But anyway, these shows are getting torrented like mad anyway. At least now they can keep track of how many downloads, and offer adverts on the download pages, possibly even through the show. Complete control is better than no control, since the show is gonna get distributed anyway.

Its not a bad idea really. I watch BBC3 episodes online, like 2 pints and ideal. But there is an added bonus to them because they are shown a week before TV rather than a day after they air. Plus there are no adverts and its perfectly watchable, even if it isnt in HDTV quality.
Ill probably continue to get torrents for shows like lost because its much better quality. Ill also buy the american DVD of series 2 when its out like i did with series 1.

If its like the quality of Channel 4's The IT Crowd then that would be pritty good. I was impressed with that and dont even remember seing any adverts during the show.
