Edit: Rofl... it thinks my CPU is at 0.9GHz and doesn't meet the specs :D

Edit2: This download is damn slow. I wish they had faster servers :(

Just finished that. I was a little disappointed at first, but once you get into the built-up area you can really see that they've layered on the effects. They're quite subtle, but if you go back to normal HL2 afterwards you will notice the difference.

All in all, I'm pretty impressed. Let's hope future titles will be to this quality :)

How to get out of the Chapel?!?!?

first off i think valve over--somethinged? the system requirements. my 2 yr old pc: 2.4 ghz, 512 mb ram, 128 mb radeon 9250 played perfectly fine except there was a lag sort of thing every now and then and the frame rates were alot slower than when i played normal half life 2
...and i dunno if the hdr and stuff was right because i dont even look at that detail...hl2 was amazing enough for me and this seemed same...

    ANY WAY

HOW DO I GET OUT OF THE CHAPEL...I GO IN, THE DOOR LOCKS BEHIND ME, AND THATS IT.....i wasted 46 minutes trying to get something to do(lol i spent so much time i even found a glitch in there )....
BUT WHAT AM I SUPPPOSED TO DO....please help me all i need to know is waht do i do to get the next series of events started....thanks.

    System specs:
    NF4 SLi DR
    AMD 64 3700+
GF 6800 GT 256Mb (stock speeds)
    2 GB OCZ DDR 400

first screen shots are 1024x768, 2xAA, 4xAnsio, HDR on, all other things on the highest setting

These ones are 1280x1024, 6x AA, 16x Ansio, HDR on, everything maxed out.

Just to show what HDR does, this is what happens when you look at something bright,
    [IMG]
after a brief second, the camera "adjusts"

A few of taking out a helicopter.

Find the cannon in the room, (not too hard to find) gain access and jam it.
Hopefully that doent give it away too much.

EDIT: sorry for the double post... bad habit from other forums...

I think the word you were looking for was over-hyped. Heh. I've been waiting for this thing for a while now and got pretty excited about it. I'm amazed at how short that was and how weak. I was seriously hoping for A LOT more. From what I gathered it was supposed to be an additional level to the game, but there was no story to it and it wasn't anywhere NEAR as long as one of the HL2 levels. It really only took me a few minutes to complete and at the end I just sat here like :jawdrop: . I also realize that the point was just to demonstrate their HDR implementation, but DOD:S has HDR so imo there wasn't really a point to this at all. Hopefully Aftermath will come out soon.

No, it also showed off some really high-res textures.

Was short but sweet. Now I can go change my clock back to today. Seemed rather slow-running to me, but then I realized I WAS reencoding a movie in the background (after all my ramblings about being able to on an X2...); natrually I forgot to assign the one threaded app I use to only one core while playing a demanding game.

Still, fun. Time to finish off FEAR and then maybe another run through HL2. Widescreen IS sweet :D Then again, I've started another run through Cahos Theory too... oh dear. Unfortunately SCCT seems to be rather buggy on the widescreen front, but that's another story.

But look how shiny the rocket launcher is! [darth vader]Impressive... most impressive.[/darth vader]

For starters, [sinz], the point was that Lost Coast was originally going to come out *before* DoD:S - Lost Coast was always going to be the first Source HDR demo, but it didn't work out like that.

Secondly, Day of Defeat costs $20, whereas Lost Coast is free for every HL2 owner to enjoy.

Admitedly, it could've been longer, but I've been warning people for over a month now not to get all worked up because it's pretty short. It is what it is. Has anyone completed my challenge yet?

Steam is a bit messed up, it said my 3800+ was only 1.4ghz.
I'm right in thinking that my x800xt wont be able to do HDR?

There's a huge performance hit with HDR over the original HL2.
HDR FarCry runs far better on my PC.
