I lost the little chuck for the flex shaft that drives the cable inside it (the one that bolts directly on the dremel). I can't seem to find one anywhere! Someone got any ideas?

I think you misunderstood. the flex shaft for my dremmel. The whole thing is driven by a steel cable with a square end. putting a pair of vice grips on the dremmel chuck then turning on the dremmel at 35krpm prolly not a good idea :p

firstly: always put that thing on the other end of the cable when not in use! If you dont you are garanteed to loose it (like you) ;)

You could send a mail to dremel and ask if they can get you a new one. (doesn't hurt to ask). Or yu could try to make a new one, or get a local mechanics shop to make you one. can get you the measurements if you want to try.

that should be like 15 minutes work with a metal saw, a piece of sheet metal, an electric drill and a flat metal file.

    Making one that is :D

The dremel xpr came with a nifty carrying case that has special bits in the case for everything. Wrenches, bits, chucks, even the jigsaw, flexshaft, and many other attachments. I was suprised when I opened the case to see little plastic diagrams of what went where. I've never seen a case put together so well. The only thing that bugs me is the spot for the flexshaft needs about 2 more inches.

Just something to keep in mind if you keep losing things ;p

this was a chuck much like the one you posted. except the hole at the top where the bit comes out is actually square, not round, due to the nature of the flex shaft. ive been looking for that chuck for some time now...

Edit:: I may have found what im looking for. its actually refered to as a driver cap. I ordered one from a website (toolsforless.com) and we will see in a few days if its the correct part.
