After installing a Windows XP tweaking program (and uninstalling, and going back to a restore point), I lost the Recycle Bin link on my desktop! I don't know how to empty it Does anyone know how to get the shortcut back? - tf
Try this: 1> Start >> Run 2> Type GPEDIT.MSC 2> Navigate to User Configuration > Admin Templates > Click on DESKTOP 4> On the right hand seach\ "Remove Recycle Bin icon on the desktop \" and double left click on it to ENABLE it.
try : right click desktop hit properties desktop tab hit "customize desktop" generl tab make sure recycle bin checkbox is checkidyfied.
Nope. The only options are 'My computer,' 'My Network Places,' 'My Documents,' and 'Internet Explorer.' - tf
doh! i did that without looking, sorry ... you can only change the icon there. try changing the icon and applying? worth a shot.
Did you have any other icons on your desktop and are they still there. Otherwise try right click on desktop, then go to "Arrange Icons By" and make sure "Show Desktop Icons" is checked. Ironically I hate the friggin recycle bin and I have mine unchecked so I dont have to look at it. If you need to empty it go to Windows Explorer and you can see it there in the left pane. In will function the same from there as it will from the desktop. I use YzDock and the included docklet apptly named RecycleBin to control my trash recepticle. Good luck and may the force be with you.
if i remember rightly, object dock has a recycle dealie too ... also, right click on your hard drive in the explorer window, and do a disk cleanup ... that will give you the option to remove files from the bin ...
