Whats with the whole Open/Close thing?

I thought that was to help cool the second card when in X-Fire, and that it was removable.

The huge length is due to the stock cooler right? Hopefully? Looks interesting but performance should be more interesting.

I assume that's to allow you to remove the fan. Either that, or it's a vent to allow extra air to the fan.

Either way, that's a silly cooler. No-one in their right mind could honestly say that's sensible. :\

What's the 8-pin connector next to the 6-pin pci-e power connector?

That's an 8-pin PCI-E. It's for taking EVEN more power than a 6 pin. But since it has both a 6 and an 8 pin, I have no hope left.

My assumption is that the open close is to change where the air for the fan comes from, so in crossfire it doesn't suck air from the heat coming off of the other card, since it looks like the fan can take air from top and bottom of the cooler.

Other site said that the card in the pictures is an OEM-version (30 cm long or something) and there's another model for normal customers which is _ONLY_ 24 cm long. The 30 cm one is just HILARIOUS! Just look at it :D It's damn monsterous. I totally lolled when I saw that the first time 10 minutes ago.

Btw the fan only takes 24 watts of power... 24 WATTS. Just insane. It better performe well or ppl wont buy it only because it's inefficient in the means of electricity costs. And that's only a single card!

Hasn't the R600 performance been rumoured to be 40% faster than the 8800GTX?

Oh has there been some RUMOURS of the R600? </sarcasm> Seriously lets just wait for the benchmarks. It sure hell SHOULD outperforme the 8800GTX after it's months late and takes even more powah than the G80s...

Yeah, most of that length is due to the huge stock cooler. Look at the area right behind the power sockets, you can see table through it. The blower is entirely past the end of the card.

If you look at the backside pictures, you can see that the card itself isn't any bigger than the X1800 was. It's just the monster cooler that extends it out to full-length PCI size.

I REALLY do not like the placement of the 6 and 8 pin. The G80 had it in the perfect spot, but this.. Not so much.

I think the card has been delayed to April, so I wouldn't expect decent stock until May or June.

Price is something of a wild guess, but considering it's potential performance I can't see it being any less than £375/$600...
