Rant LOUD TYPERS!

It's like cracking your knuckles: when you do it, it's fine - when someone else does it, it's annoying I think it's because we predict the sounds our movements will make, whereas we can't predict someone else's movements (I can for people trying to rob me, as demonstrated once [without getting robbed] - so it's totally science) and henceforth sounds those movements make.

I find it excruciatingly annoying when my colleagues type. It just goes "clack... Clack... Clack. Clack, clack. Clack... Clack... etc..." LEARN TO ****ING TYPE, IT'S 2010! This is why twitter/identi.ca/etc have a 140-character limit: because it takes a non-geek/non-receptionist five minutes to type 140 characters!

Most of us use computers in our daily lives, for both work and personal use. But most of us, lovely human beings, can't interact with them properly; and worse, don't care to learn. It infuriates me.

It takes them (the lusers) a full minute to get onto facebook.com. Because they start up their browser (on Windows, this may take inbetween ten seconds and five minutes; this time has not been counted in during my totally valid study), which loads Google.[com/country code], then they type "facebook" or "facebook login", then they get to facebook.com.

How bloody retarded do you have to be to do that? Whilst smashing the keys like you're a Klingon and someone's just told you that you suck at being a warrior? AAAAAAAAAAARGH! ("AAAAAAAARGH" is probably Klingon for "I hate people".)

Death to key-smashers! Death to slow typers! Death to everyone (male) but The Geek! (Once everyone else is dead, hot women will have to be our consorts! Ha-ha! Geeks win!)

... I'll get my coat.


(Seriously though, people need to learn to learn. To educate themselves. Technology/the internet is in our daily lives now. But most of humanity has no idea what the hell that means. Also, people need to learn not to finger-rape their keyboard.)

I know this is going slightly OT, but this part of your post reminded me of a blog that was written a while back: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/facebook_wants_to_be_your_one_true_login.php

Ignore the actual post, it's rubbish, but there was a period where this was the first result on google for 'Facebook Login'. Hence a great deal of people (like those mentioned above) were finding themselves at this website when they were expecting the facebook login page. Read the comments, it really is excellent (in a way that kind of makes you worried for the future of humans.

Strange isn't it? Nearly everybody at least USES computers professionally, but TYPING isn't a madatory school class.

 

Add me to the MS Ergo list. I feel guilty whenever I work past midnight for fear of keeping my adjacant housemates up.

 

I had an exam in an ICT room using computers the other day. It was silent. Silent that is except for everyone BASHING on the keyboards REALLY LOUD so you couldn't concentrate! And also why does the space bar have to sound so different! Think about it and it gets annoying...

I have a really small low-profile A4Tech keyboard; sound is one of the reasons.

 

I used to import A4 many years ago. I still have 2 silver keyboards. great for a backpack toss. one of my eee PCs has a wonky keyboard so I use that.

Yeah, i've got a small keysonic for the same reason.
With some games I had an issue due to the non existane of the numpad though. Probably didn't help that it was a german edition so many standart keybinds didn't work.
Have that problem with all keyboards though.

 

Another MS Ergo keyboard user - I'm a fairly quiet typer at times, but as others have said, there's no escaping the massive sound that the spacebar emits!
