I wish to upgrade my lounge gaming PC as the 560ti that currently resides in it only has 1gb of vram and I believe that is the culprit for the odd stutters we get. (@1080p)

We only play games like rayman etc on it and the most demanding games it sees are the open world Lego games.

I can get a 2gb 770 for £130 or a 4gb version for £160, is it worth paying the extra for the additional ram or maybe there is a better GPU for the same money, I have considered amd but the additional power usage weighs on my mind.

There is also the possibility that my daughter will steal the 770 (or what ever I buy) leaving me with her 670 2gb but the questions still stand.

Well on my 3gb 7950 I run out of vram before I run out of gpu to utilise on the latest games so I would say that even at 1080p the 4gb would be worth it, and I am assuming this is the ocuk prices in which case there isn't any better for the money!

If you're not playing gpu intensive games I'd be surprised if it was the issue, at home the family have got a 5600k (I think, maybe the 5800k actually), with no dedicated card and my brother and I didn't have any issues playing LEGO Marvel, although I think that may have been at 720p, but still, the 560ti should be a big jump in performance no?

Personally I'd question whether it would be better to just lower some settings rather than get a more power hungry, possibly louder card if it's designed for living room gaming.

Would agree with this for the most part but lego worlds (admittedly early access so will see big improvements) hits my 7950 as hard as GTAV or SoM!

I get what you guys are saying, I am tempted to get the 4gb version but it's another £40 on top and after speaking to my daughter it seems like she's going to lay claim to the 770 using her gaming design course as leverage for requiring it :).

Looks like the lounge pc might end up with a 2gb card anyway hmmmm got to think some more.

770 2gb vs 4gb GTAV doesn't seem to make that much difference FPS wise but the 4gb version does use 3gb in game.

Well I shelled out the extra £40 for the 4gb card as I know I would always regretted buying the 2gb card even though it didn't seem to make that much difference.

As expected it went in my daughters pc and uses 3.5gb running Unigine and hit's 76c in a Cooler master 690II. The top of her case is very warm but core temps says her cpu is only 40c which is odd.

As for the lounge pc my old 670 power edition card fits in the core V1 just fine, max card length is supposed to be 260mm but the 670 is 267 and is still fine with even a couple of centimetres to spare, it is projecting into the front panel aperture though but it isn't an issue. If the power sockets were on the end of the card then it would be an issue.

Sounds good, what are the acoustics and thermals of the 670 in the case?

Well my old Insider build of Win 10 kept moaning that it wasn't going to be valid anymore so literally 5 mins ago I started installing win 7 so I will let you know :)
