ok got my new system built but heres my problem, in about a month im gonna be getting a new case as i want a smaller one. my problem is that i also want to change the stock intel cooler for a low profile one just purely because i want too lol. the cooler will be for a core i5-2500 and must fit on an asus p8h67-m pro without stopping the first ram slot from being populated, the case im getting is an nzxt vulcan. been looking my-self but im not too sure as ive never built into a case of this size and have never used a low profile cooler before
hi Chris, interesting post. I would like to buy the same case (NZXT Vulcan) with one of 1155 matx MB and 2500x CPU but I am stuck for the Intel 1155 bug on SATA port...the sellers of 1155 is stopped and still I don't want to buy AMD for consuming and performance (price should be nice). Your thought to build a low profile CPU cooler is fine, let's keep in contact.
Why would you go with a low-profile cooler, if the case fits a big tower cooler without any problems?
Grab a Prolimatech Samuel 17 if you're unsure. It'll fit without blocking any DIMMs and it actually cools the DIMMs, if they're close to the CPU-socket.
