Right, i've got Ubuntu running ok now, i've grasped the command terminal (to a point) and changed from Firefox to mozilla...

I've bought a Wifi card (b) and i want to use it to set up an ad-hoc connection with my Centrino laptop. Unfortunately i cant get it to work in ubuntu. I've installed ndiswrapper using the Synaptic package manager, and i've managed (i think) to install the driver using it. It doesn't, however, seem to work properly, in that the wlan0 option doesnt appear in the connections manager wizard.

On typing iwconfig i get "lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. sit0 no wireless extensions" and there are no lights on the PCMICIA card.

I can find the card in Device Manager as "Realtek Semiconductor Co RTL8180L and it comes up with "Device: Unknown" "Capabilities: Unknown"

I know that the card's ok because i had it working in a win2000 machine today.

Its a TwinMOS Octopus B Series 2.4Ghz 11Mbps Wireless PC Card

I've searched the Ubuntu forums and stuff, but not had much luck.

    Any help appreciated! :hip:
