Ok. I just recieved a few bits and pieces for free including an old old mac desktop but more fun to play with a laptop. The specs can be seen here

Now the problem is i can't find the power on switch. :wallbash: I know i sound like a right jackass but i cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn the laptop on. So if anybody knows how to turn this thing on please leave a post as i want to see if it works. Thanx

Cheers for that man :p I know its a dumbass thing to ask but i swear theres no buttons on the back or any of the sides or anywhere for that matter. Its got to be one of the keys, although i've obvioulsy pressed every button and every combination and eventually resorted to hiting it but still nothing. I think it might be broken :wallbash: Ohh well i think it calls for a bit of :dremel: Somebody on these forums has to own an ancient mac laptop.

Don't you have to wait until there's a planetary alignment or something with those things, upon which they just 'power on' ?

    :)

Seriously - Is there a switch between the adp and modem/printer port?

Or is there a key with a triangle on its side, sorta thing? Maybe hold that in.

Is it charged up or plugged into mains?

    ahhh i see :worried:

boy do i feel a jackass. Ohh well we live and learn. Still doesn't power on though even with the mains adaptor in. I assume its like every other machine and as soon as i press that button (which by the way is very small in my defence) it should just power on?

Edit: After all this time i still can't get it to work. Ohhh well looks like i've got a good paperweight. If no slightly too large. If anybodys got any other ideas about how to test if it works or is a total waste leave a post :thumb:

on normal macs there is a square key on the top right of the keyboard with a triangle pointing to the left - you press and hold it for a second or two and it either works or you get the sad mac tune and picture.

have you tried the one in the top right corner? Also try asking this guy as he says he has manuals and other documents stored offline.

Well i press the triangle thing in the top right and nothing happens. I press the power button on the back of the laptop and nothing happpens. Infact, nothing happens full stop. I think its broken although i'd of expected something to happen. Cheers for all the help guys and i'll keep tryin. It'd make a nice side window if i can get it to work:D

Edit: Does anybody know of a way to test if a battery is totally bust?? I get the feeling that since its am ancient thing its probably seen a lot of use and lost all its charge. Still i'd hope that the mains supply being plugged in would stop that but i'm clutching at straws here.
Edit 2: E-mail sent to the guy with the dedicated website. :D Hell i told you i was clutching at straws here.
Edit 3: E-mail not sent after all as the server is bouncing them straight back as the address is not recognised. :wallbash:

press the key on the top right for a couple of seconds

the one on the back should be the hard reset switch :)

if all else fails, remove the batt over night put it back in in the mornning and see what happens.

If you have the psu, plug it in and hit the power button

oh, and manual on the apple site http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50593

    Hope that helps :D

macs are evil evil evil computers. and by all laws of nature and physics shouldn't exist. Kinda like anti-matter. but unlike anti-matter they dont go poof as soon as matter touches them, they just die and stop working.

    hahaha nice try :hehe:
    But seriously no thanx. :D
If you up that to 50 i might consider it but i doubt anybody would pay that for this laptop working never mind bust  I think i'll put it in with the rest of the rubbish i have laying in my room. You never know one day i might have two then i can mod them together in some hideous creation and actually get it to work.
