I currently own a windows desktop, going to college next year, my rents agreed to put some money up ($1300.00) for a laptop. I was wondering how difficult it is to put Boot Camp onto a MB? I've never had a computer with OSX, but I've had an iMac with OS 9.0 and and older mac with OS 7.5.5
Pretty much click click burn disc, reboot, eject disc, insert disc, eject, insert, eject, reboot a few times and presto chango... Fairly painless really...
Yeah... it's stupidly simple. Run it and burn the driver disc, then proceed with a normal Windows install. But TBH I'd use Parallels instead. Much more convenient, unless for some reason you're buying a Mac just to use Windows on it. I was in a similar situation, but I've since deleted boot camp and only have a Parallels install of Windows around for Minitab (that one program. Every other Windows program I've needed either has a Mac equivalent, has said equivalent included, or has a replacement that's even better. I think you're making a good choice, but I'd quite recommend putting in as much RAM as you can afford. You can replace the stock memory quite easily on the Macbooks if you're so inclined and save a bit - Newegg has some fairly cheap Mac-compatible stuff. Of course I bought mine before Apple halved their memory prices, but it's still a bit cheaper to go with the third-party stuff. And no, it doesn't void your warranty (unless you spill coffee in the thing when you're taking care of it, or something equally stupid)
I was going to reply, but I see I was beaten to it. Just to reiterate - easy. And, max out your ram from newegg and install it yourself. And, parallels rocks - if you use it, you probably won't need boot camp. Oh - one more thing that wasn't said by the others - make sure you get the education discount - it will save you hundreds....
