    Hi guys

Had this issue for a while and it's finally got my last nerve. Every 5 mins or so the headphone out starts to distort the audio. I've tried different media players (I normally use VLC cause I mainly listen to FLAC) and none of them change the problem so I'm convinced it's something to do with the output itself.

I've googled it and others seem to have a similar issue but their fixes don't help me.

    Any ideas

Have you verified that its not your headphones?

If you had a windows pc the next thing I would do is try and boot a live CD then play some audio. If you still have the crackling then you know its the hardware thats the problem. How easy thats going to be on a mac book pro I have no idea.

    ahh

so I've just heard something else happen (never happened before now) but the speakers also just started crackling intermittently too. I think it might be VLC struggling, it dips a few cents in pitch every now and then too. anyone know a good FLAC player on Mac?
