Walmart has it too. They even had the 5%.

I bought some 20%, but *gasp* I actually installed it in my wife's car. :eeek:

Baby Budha with more questions for the Master:

Was the chrome tint used in the article 20% transmissive, like the black tint, or was it 5%? I couldn't find that in the article.

Why not just paint over a chrome tinted etch instead of the frisket mask (you won't see much behind the motherboard anyway)?

Also, the article says that the inside of the case was lined with the chrome film to promote refectivity. Does this include the windows (chrome over black)?

    Happy Holidays

The end of this month symbolizes my 1 year anniversary of being a newbie mini-modder. Macro Black was the first modding article that I read, and I've been tinkering ever since. Thanks to MacroMan and all the rest for helping me along. Happy Holidays!

So many good ideas, and extremely well executed... I'm so jealous :sigh:

I especially liked the feet, ingenious!

i got a case from clearpc too, and i wonder: did you have any problems with grounding? the thing's refusing to boot, and the fans don't even turn on. It's really annoying. I think it's because the case is acrilic, so it doesn't properly ground the hardware like a metal case does.

I have had no problems and I know several people with clear cases, all with no problems.

All your hardware is and should be grounded through the PSU cable and not rely on the case. The case is grounded for EMI shielding and electrical safety. The latter not being needed on a completely plastic case.

It sounds like you have a problem with either your PSU or mobo.

    macroman, i've got 2 questions:

    1) Did walmart have the mirrored film as well?
    2) I talked to my local plexi supplier, and he told me that you shouldn't mount the 1 way mirror film onto plexi. Any comments?

1 - Dunno, they sell just about everything on the planet so they may do.

2 - He is probably referring to the adhesive on the film reacting with the plexi. MacroBlack is over 12 months old and no degradation has been noticed. It looks the same today as it did when it was made. I have used the film on other plastics as well with no adverse affects. :cooldude:

I just went to a local window tinter and got some scrap so I coudl do my logos somewhat like on this case....he gave it to me...enough to do a plexi case like macro's...might want to try askign if they have any scrap before buying any...

I didn't see much of a selection at wal-mart and doubt macroman has because he's in britain if I'm not mistaken.

Autozone had mirror film...but this window tinting place had chrome reflective film as well.
