That's a total bummer, Maplin are dropping all the useful lines. The 4mm bore grommets went, 2mm leds no more, some decent TO220 heatsinks went, now 50R 3W pots.

Rapid and ESR don't do an equivalent, try RS or Farnell.

Must be me, I quote a code at Fan Noise Solutions and Maplin drop it.

You're lucky, I've never found anything with Farnell Search.

Looked at RS, they do a 50R rated 1.5W (at 70C, but 3W at 20C) that would be fine for a single fan under 215mA (say 2.5W max), 812-774, but the price is a nasty £12.80+del+vat. :(

Also suggested Tekheads start selling them, so get over to their forum and add your pleas. ;)

    edit:
OK, a quick look at Farnell shows 2 suitable (under potentiometers):

    351313 - 50R 3W, £11.56 + vat

    350862 - 47R 2W, £4 + vat.

The second one (2W) should be fine up to 260mA (3W) fans if you keep it aired, but there's a datasheet available.

At those prices I would consider this Fanbus You should be able to make it for less than £5/channel.

It's ironic, I remember when Maplin started - basically 2 guys running a mail order business from a spare bedroom. They were electronics enthusiasts selling to enthusiasts. They sold virtually everything the electronics hobbyist needed at the cheapest prices going. Now they have been taken over and rapidly becoming yet another non-descript retailer selling the same old limited range of stuff (at high prices) as everyone else. Just like the high street chains and retail parks which only sell mass market mediocre boxes of flashing lights and switches with no style or real performance. E.G. I have yet to find a high street chin or retail park shop that sells "real" hi-fi and not just the mass market pretenders. Hell if I wanted to be a sheep I'd live in a field. (Stopping ranting now before I get carried away ;) ).
