Hi, mi question is basically does anyone know ware to buy the Macs Kooler? It is on the inside cover of this months custom pc
Yes, I saw that advert too and wondered how good/expensive it was. Managed to find this link http://www.casetek.com.tw/product/cooler.htm It says "Guaranteed to cool down CPU temperature up to 10deg compare with traditional CPU Cooler. " I'm guessing that by "traditional CPU cooler" they mean stock reference heatsink. If so, you don't need anything too fancy to beat that by 10 degrees - it can be done with a XP120 and 120mm fan. An XP120 with an integrated aircon unit, now that would be a different story.... Good idea, but I wonder if they'll make a bigger, more powerful one?
Macs coolers are pretty new in cooling arn't they? i saw an advert the other day, and thought haven't seem them before... whos knows if they are crap or not..
You could try emailing them at macs (at) macstek.com and just ask them. I bet they know. Or try . Google knows all. Edit: check this out. At the bottom of the brochure is a website, email addy, fax number and telephone number. If that doesn't help you further, I don't know what to tell you.
yes id be interested in seeing a proper comparision done by a third party before commenting further, but it certainly looks good.
Ah, it uses a TEC. That means that although CPU temps will be nice, fans will have to work to cool another 30-40 watts of power?
Has airconditioning ever been attempted for chip cooling before. MACS stands for micro, air, conditioning, system
The MACS Kooler is a genuine POS. If the TEC dies, you have no cooling. If you see one, run fast and run far. I'm dealing with one right now and I wouldn't use it for a crab trap wieght.
For goodness sake guys, at least try! No-one here likes textspeak, it's annoying and unneccesary. People don't expect your English to be perfect (mine is far from it) but do at least try to make your sentences vaguely understandable. As for the cooler, I'd avoid it. 10 degrees below a conventional cooler is still about 7C less than most high end regular air coolers can do compared with stock cooling. If you want fancy cooling with TEC's do it properly, same with water and refridgeration. Otherwise stick to air cooling, as it's really rather fantastic these days anyway.
Those 2 are long gone, it's an old thread. As for the tec cooler, i read the newer ones are pretty good, There's one called the Titan Amanda (odd name) that retails for about £60 and is pretty good by all accounts.
