Bit sad really. Can't say I've been enticed by any Mad Catz products since my teens (just like any other products from a company that substitutes an "S" for a "Z"), but losing any company that provides options for gamers is not good news...

I cannot remember owning a single piece of Mad Catz hardware that didn't break. The drop in quality of Saitek was as dramatic as it was rapid once they were under Mad Catz ownership.

It's amazing how long a company can survive selling unreliable crap at slightly lower prices than official or good quality third party peripherals, but eventually the wider market will respond.

Hopefully Saitek will improve it's build quality again under Logitech.

Considering the level of quality of their products you would think they would've disappeared years ago. It was a sad day when they obtained Saitek. I hope logitech can turn it around, i don't have much faith though. Mad Catz's years of garbage products has me jaded.

My god you should see the inside of my x52. It is a ****show in there. Its like an episode of Trailer Park Boys except it's real.

Man this has been drawn out. I thought they were gone already.

I still have a Mad Catz R.A.T 3 mouse that is going strong, despite having 3 kids hell bent on destroying peripherals!

ISTR Logitech retained 8 members of Saitek's staff. Let's hope it wasn't the QA dept! :worried:

I think the last thing from them I ever owned was a "Super Controller" for the SNES. Stopped working after a year or so.

Shame, I loved the products but the reliability is crappy. I just bought an X-56 Rhino which is superb, however by all accounts I don't expect it to last very long. (the tension wheel for the throttle was DOA for a start)

Logitech make quality kit, and got Saitek for a bargain.

Oh no! Which brand of crappy 3rd party controller shall we buy to give to the person who draws the short straw in local multiplayer now?!

They used to be really good about 15 years ago. I had a controller that I used for years and it last about 2 more when I gave it to my brother who was renowned for throwing them in fits of rage.

Can't say I'm surprised. Bought a few PS1 and PS2 controllers and accessories from Mad catz and none of their stuff has lasted or even felt that good to use. Even cheap generic branded stuff was better to use even if it didn't last long either. It's at the point I actively avoid their products even if they cater to a niche or receive good reviews.

Is it just me or do they seem to price themselves higher the last few years?

The Rat 5 I've still got somewhere around here is pretty good, except for the wobbly adjustable palm rest. They were different at least, a change from the usual logitech or maybe corsair. He says, reaching for a logitech mouse...

They did raise prices. They also raised quality, from "flimsy garbage that MIGHT work as a paperweight" to "less flimsy garbage that is guaranteed to work as a paperwork and MIGHT actually work as advertised sometimes"
