Mafia 1 is the next game on my to-play list. Looking forward to both of them.

    I LOVED the original!
Such a great game, it's sad so many dismissed it. I'm glad they are making a sequel though though. Even if it was just a repeat of the first it would still be good.

Never played the original, can pick it up for £3 on Amazon, is it necessary before the 2nd. For £3 i'm gonna have a punt but is it a decent game?

No, story and gameplay-wise it's not necessary to play the original before the sequel, but i'd defenitely recommend you to do that!, the original was one of the best games i ever played, it was a classic just HL 1&2, Deus ex, Planescape:torment, Riddick and other timeless classics, and although the sequal looks very promising(from what i've seen!) still i don't think it'll be as good as the original....if you skip it you'll be missing on one of the very best and most atmospheric action and gangster games of all time....

such a great story lies behind it all, it really gets you involved from the very moment it starts. the final shootout in the game in the museum, even though you are fully aware of what you are doing and why you are doing it really gets to you when you make that final kill. the cutscene really has you sat there in awe, then not forgetting the bit at the end of the credits just to finish it off. This bit alone really hits hard.

yeah some of the missions are really tough due to bad AI or so many bad guys but it demands that you keep trying till you crack it and you really feel like you have achieved something!, that's what proper and hardcore pc gaming is all about...

one mission is an instant classic, going for a meal with the Don. it feels like watching The Untouchables for some bizarre reason the way the rival Mafia arrive and open up on the resteraunt.

there were so many high points, the bootleg heist that goes wrong, the scene which has you torching a building, the rooftop escape which descends into a gunfight at a funeral. the stealing one of the sports cars, hell I even enjoyed the race (pre patch).

I just hope it won't have the same feeling like Godfather II, because gameplay was to easy (2 days game really) and the controls were really bad. I enjoyed first one but the second was abosulutley rubbish. I hope this won't happen with the Mafia sequel. I loved first one, amazing game. We will see :)

There was a patch considering the race?

I failed miserable in the race, and after trying for a week or so...it ended there. :grr:

    Torrent?
It's not like you don't own a legal copy. It's just bad and you need a "backup disk".

I also cannot wait for Mafia 2 to come out, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven has to have one of the best written stories I've ever seen in a game. Not to mention it was the first really epic game I had played. Roll on the release date.... while I wait I'm going to replay the original!

now the only thing i want to know is...

will this game use dx11 or atleast dx10 technology? or is it another crappy port dx9 outdated game??!

if this game is using outdated crappy dx9 port from consle then this game is rubbish.. and its out of my list! guaranteed!!

i have the lates GPU dx11 and latest OS... i deserve better games than dx9 crappy port jobs! get off you lazy asses developers!
    and make games worth mentioning!

i remeber the original mafia was using dx8 and pc exclusive game... and it was and still the best game in terms of graphics even better than most of dx9 crappy ported games!!!

let me see... is mafia 2 dx9 crappy port job or dx10/ 11 worth playing and buying?!
