As of lately I've been having loads of problems connecting to FTP servers.

When I came to share the net connection to the computer upstairs I found that the advanced tab in connection properties was corrupt. I did a scout around the web and found several commands to fix it, once I'd ran them everything was working fine.

However, ever since the I've been unable to connect to any FTP server using any client including my network places - it keeps timing out. I've tried disabling the firewall, disabling connection sharing etc etc but nothing seems to work :(

    Any help greatly appreciated!

I'm not really sure of what I'm doing when it comes to FTP's, but my advice would be to find out if its in active or passive mode, and which ever its in, swap that over to the other. That was my problem when connecting to my ISP's FTP, but, fairly different circumstances then yours. Hope that helps some :)

Some ISP's don't allow FTP transfer, it may be worth checking, although if it worked before this may not be the case.

If you try connecting to FTP using Linux, and it works we can rule out hardware or ISP problems/restrictions and it's Windows somewhere.

Have you tried uninstalling and installing the network drivers (not reinstall) to see if this helps.
