Just think how easy it would be to have one of the big case manufacturers post something like this and have you guys do all the hard work on new case designs all for the measly sum of $50 relatively speaking and implement all the best bits into their next best seller.

    Just a thought ;)

Just a incomplete concept... Can the 3.5" bays be part of the 5.25 as a converter type thing?

Made with solidworks. Sketchup is not my thing.

Yer but there would need to be nearly 20 bays in it. What else are you planning to add to it?

    20 bays? There's 12 in that pic.
For that concept to work, I still need screw holes,
the actual bays and not bay covers, put in the
mobo tray I converted/made, measure some more
stuff for psu, and render. Lots of work left =(
unfortunately, I only have an atx mobo tray.
Unless you can find me a sketchup of an eatx
mobo tray so I can convert it, you're out of luck.

You wouldn't need 20 but almost I think it's about 4 hdd per 3 bays so 18 I think would do it but not sure. Where did you find the motherboard tray? I've been looking for a while and I can't find one.

Do the 3.5" bays have to be external? If it's just for hdd mounting, I have a good idea...

Almost done design. Just needs psu and screw holes.
btw, do you mind if the final design needs some handy work done to it, like the holes need to have mesh jbwelded on? My current computer can't handle too many perforated holes, so it's going to lag and there will be some empty holes.
Also, the concept won't have any rads in it. I measured and it'll fit some, just not in the model.

with the current design, you can have a eatx mobo with only one large psu, or you can have one atx mobo and two psu.

how thick are your rads+fans? I can hold 3 480s if the total fan+rad sandwhich is under 50mm, but only one if it's 100mm.

if around 100mm, then you can only fit one psu, one atx mobo, one 480rad, and two 360rads.

It would be nice if manufacturers actually took a look at some of the great mods in this forum ..... they might actually put some of the ideas to good use.
    Ideas such as ..

If anyones interested I thought about a cross between cygnus x1 before the wood got put on and dark blade which is my favourite mod.:thumb:Also lets aim for a bit after the 22nd for the comp to end and hopefully we can get a couple more entries.

Ok for all the people that are busy over Christmas and can't enter I'm extending it because I have a temporary case so there's no finish yet and will probably finish january sometime.

We have no idea what your skills are, what your budget is or what you like.
Not designing your own casemod idea, sounds a lot like buying a pre-mod from the store.
This sounds like a major failure to me. Good luck.

Huh I forgot about this thread. I never really got a proper entry. Would anyone be interested if I restarted this comp?
