OK, I'm installing Gentoo onto my second PC (it's a 333MHz Celeron)

I'm using a stage 2 i686 tarball, and I've got pretty far into the installation (well, probably not but it seems as though I have :p)

I've got to the stage where I can enter flags into the make.conf file.

Now, does this fils have any implications on what the computer can do?

(e.g. if i don't enter in ''gphoto2' then i wont get didital camera support)

What should I put in here?

    :wallbash:

I've only done one gentoo install... but iirc you have to have ide=scsi-int or sommit of the sort to have cd burning support... It says such in the documentation I believe...
Wait for someone to correct me though :p

All USE flags can be changed after install at any time, just leave them as is during the install.

Also, ATAPI support is great if you're using cdrecord and not some laggy frontend, so no need to play around with anything SCSI for burner support. Just enable IDE CDROM in the Kernel and you're set.

    OK, thanks :)

It's a pity I've compiled all the SCSI stuff into the kernel... :duh:

    /emerges cdrecord :p

heh, you could always recompile, but if you've got your CDRW working with SCSI emulation, you might as well use it.

Try to use cdrecord in shell rather than a GUI frontend, if you need to know how to do some basic stuff with cdrecord, then Google is good, and i'm willing to help in IRC.
