Theres no way of fixing HDD's......as you;d end up destroyingthe drive when you open it and try and fix it. TBH new drives are cheaper than ever.
You should be able to replace the HDD in it for relatively cheap, just sell somethings that are less important then your laptop.
and his sig Anything a bit disturbing here? But first of all spell check. Second, You would need to replace it, you can't really fix 'em.
Your spelling sucks! just kidding! But seriously, take my advice, selling stuff you don't use is an easy way to get some fast cash.
Nah its not that bad, I just had a few red underlines, so they were picked up by the spell checker. At least we could still read it, unlike some posters we have had here.
It wasn't a smart ass reply as you would put it, it is (as many other people have stated) the only way to get rid of the whine. It's a warning that your drive will be corrupting soon.
One of my hard drives does that lovely Chuntering noise... It did have a whine at one point, but that was actually caused by a selection of different things being a bit loose.. Tightening everything up sorted that out. Actually, come to think of it my pc just sounds like a ticking chuntering whining box of spanners
Don't listen to these noobs, rip that hard disk open. Then proceed to poor 10w-30 motor oil in it, and replace the cover....good as new. This method tends to be so safe, that backing up your data is unnecessary. Good Luck
Not necessarily Doug - some older laptop drives were very whiney with plaing old spinning, which can be quite irritating.
