I'm doing up a huuuge server case at home which uses about 5 psu's. I am only wanting to use 2 psu's - but not the ones from the original case (as they are AT.) My question is, as i have got 2 new ATX power supplies, how can I make them both power on when I press the power switch? Thanks JW
there was a review on a small PCB on this site somewhere edit - by craigey1. no it wasn't it was here , that you could buy from overclockers.co.uk. It had a relay on it that would turn on the 2nd PSU when the normal one is powered up. (I had a quick look on overclockers.co.uk site, but couldn't find it, if you ring them they should be able to sell you one though). I'm using one of the PCB's in my current setup. one PSU powers the board. The other does my drives.
Or you can just connect one black and one green wire on both together and save the cash if you're feeling brave.
You can also use one ATX PSU (for the board) and one AT PSU. Just connect a relay to the 12V and GND of the ATX PSU, and connect the two power-on wires from the AT PSU to the relay instead of the switch. (These wires have 110/220V!). You could also do the same with two ATX PSUs, just connect the green and black wire from one PSU to the relay on the other.
