I have downloaded about 30 OSes from the MSDN subscriber site. They all need to be in bootable .iso format. Some of the more recent version of Windows are in this format but the others are in self extracting exes and are not in .iso format. What's the best way to create a bootable CD from these compressed exes and make them bootable (ie run setup.exe when they are in the cd drive during boot)?
how about.... i dont know if this might work for you, but you can probably get the "Microsoft Corporation.img" file from an XP CD (that's where I have one.) Then use WinISO to make an ISO and then make it bootable by adding that file. Just an idea, not 100% sure.
Easiest way is to follow this guide, here: http://www.betaplace.co.uk/bootcd.asp or here: http://redvip.homelinux.net/varios/win2k/www.thetechguide.com/win2kbootcd/
Ok first of all all those links (exept maybe the last one - haven't read through it all) describe making Win2K/XP boot cds. Second, they all describe how to burn a boot CD rather than create a boot image. It looks like I'll have to spend £30 on WinISO just so I can use it once.
You cold try this, which is a guide on actually making the Boot image for making a bootable CD. Should be exactly what your after... http://www.pcsupportadvisor.com/bootable_%20CD_page1.htm
