Is the best way to get purple just to use UV cathodes and the like? The reason I ask is because I can't find Purple Cold Cathodes online at any store that I know of (which isn't many) and the local store that has cathodes and stuff doesn't have purple ones either.

So if I want a purple effect (as my motherboard will be black and purple) should I just get UV cathodes?

What do they look like in a case?

They're pretty much purple, but it makes a lot of stuff glow, anything bright will stick out. The edges of PCBs have a nice green glow to them for example.

Another option is to get white CCFLs and use some nice, deep purple theater gel over the top. Infact, you can get virtually any color that way.

rather than UV which, tbh, i always find to be a bit of a naff purple colour, i like them more cause they can make parts 'glow' on demand, you could try getting a white or blue cathode, and some coloured film?

just get a whire or blue cathode, and some coloured film from a hobby shop or somewhere, and wrap it around the cathode. hey presto, any colour you want :)

as a word of caution though, i'd test it on a desk for a few hours, and make sure the film doesnt react in the heat, like shrink or anything.
