I ordered 2 female type molex connectors from maplin. and 2 male ones arrived, so i thought id'd ordered wrong, but i checked the order form, i definatly ordered female, so was about to call them and tell them they screwed up, when i noticed it says female on the packets? correct me if im wrong, but i would have thought the male plug goes inside the female socket (still talking about molex connectors here ) should i have paid more attention in biology, or have maplin been putting the wrong connecters in the wrong package?
I assume what you call male plugs are those plugs that come out of the PSU. That's right, they go into sockets, but the sockets have four pins, and the plugs from the PSU have four hollow pins. So they might be female afterall.
OK Females are whats on the PSU leads - males are what is on a HD/CD rom etc. You are confusing the shell gender with the pin gender (the important part) - mind you given Maplins rip off prices - they should send out a male and a female for what they charge they will pay 10p at most for the molex shell plus 4 pins..
well that sux, i was indeed going by the casing not the pins, but then i always asumed they were the same. oh well
easy mistake as its more logical and to make it worse sometimes tehy go on the shell - cannae remember what but I ordered loads of a certain connector and all the wrong sort because I went on the pins rather than the shell
