    yes i know mandrake 10 is out but i cant find it, im a toatl noob to linux an i thought mandrake would be a good place for me to start having a nice GUI and all, when i try to boot i type "startx"(i was told by someone to type that i assume its right) but i get a

    "fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X Server ":0.0""

    and nothign happens?

    whats wrong?

    how can i ix it?

    Sounds like your Xfree86 config is broken. Are you using an nvidia card? If so, you may need to compile a driver and update your xfree config. Have you ever booted into X before or has this error only just started?

    that happened to me because X hates me and doesn't want to go up to 1600x1200, so I turned it down in the config file and it works perfectly now :)

    really?? and here i though it only went to 9.2..

    9.2 is the latest official release. 10.0 is "out" but it costs money. The offical release isn't estimated to come out untill early May.
