Is the Cold Cathode Part No: A87AH £4.99 from maplins any good? The inverter is another £3.99. Bargain....... Has anybody brought one of these? And if so have you got any pics.................Please..
I have had 4 red ones so far, and two of them have worked one of them 'dulled' after 2 days of use, it looked like it running at &v's or summit, but so far the other ones have been fine, and one I bought second had was DOA erm, there cheap so theyll do, just keep your reciept and take it back, the inverters are fine though,
there is a sticky in this forum about maplin cold cathodes. Can be a pain trying to get hold of them though. i did a review on www.phlux.co.uk somewhere
Thanks lazy. Just saw your review....... Looks ok. I was in maplin earlier I ask he said he would after to order me one. I wasn't sure at the time, didn't know how good they was. Think i might have to pay another visit to maplin tomorrow..
cambrisge mappers had them on the shelf behind the counter all ready for me I dont know where Dudley is though, sounds up norf
Nope!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smack bang in the middle, in other words the Midlands... My nearest mappers is at Merry Hill.......
next to birmingham.... well now part of it. It is where the merry hill shopping centre is located. <brum accent>Wannae cup of tea?</brum accent>
well to me midladns is up north as well what can I say, sovener born and bred, me lives in bedfordshire so really not that far away go for the mappers CCs ther fine really, for the price, unbeatable
dont take any crap from them....they might tell you they dont stock them anymore, because if they check the website/database they are not there....this is just to so they dont send them out in the post (tooo many breakages) so when you get to a store, assure them that you know that maplin stock them, they will give you/order one in for you
Original joke was Brummie walks into a 70's style shop in London and asks for a wide collared shirt. After coming out of the changing room the assistant asks "Would you like a kipper tie with that?" The Brummie answers "Taa very muuch, two sugars" I'll get my coat....
Still waiting for my cathode......... Does anybody know if the tube comes in any protective coating. i.e plastic tube.............
you ordered it? over the net? i didnt think they allowed that anymore, and be prepared for a breakage.... It does come in a plastic tube....but its really flimsy and wont protect against anything..
Nah! Had to go to the shop to order it............. I don't think they know what to do about ordering it, They was all confused.............
they come i na plastic tube just like what microchips come in when you buy them from mappers, so it looks like that plastic gurder style stuff, my advice, this is what I did, whe nyou go the shop to collect them, take a carboard tube like what a poster comes in a and some bubble wrap, then as soon as you pick them up, wrap up the whole shebang in bubble wrap and put in the tube, keeping it nice and snuggly safe,
Does anybody know where i can get some plastic to replace what they come in? Will somewhere like B & Q or focus stock something the same. Might be expensive off the net for a small piece with the delivery..........
Focus do this really good cylindrical acrylic that i found was a perfect width for it - really strong as well....
the plastic they come in is fine to hold them in, I have used sticky pads to hold my two in my case with them in the mappers tube, its only for posting thatd I beef them up
