Never thought about it before but religion and politics seem to share quite a few similarities.

But what I don't get is why so many people start saying a thread should be closed - what are you afraid is going to happen?

Nice try. But my previous post didn't say that I wasn't happy, either...

I see. Playground tactics, and a bit of post editing. Nice trolling... You can have this thread all to yourself! :thumb:

I'm not sure the debate about happiness is going anywhere, but feel free to persevere...

I'm not leftie and I'm not a rightie. But it does strike me that Thatcher's death is being used by the Conservatives for political gain, exploiting the common sense of respectfulness at someone's passing for rose-tinting the past and trying to 'unite' the nation in mourning akin to the Olympics/Jubilee-vibe.

Still with the predictive models eh? ..luckily I never mentioned any such thing or I might be in trouble.

I have to say VG you have done a good job stressing my points in a civilized manner without descending to name calling and foot stamping ..nice one:thumb:

Tuk, sweetheart, everyone here know's you're wrong. Everyone here knows that when you are proven wrong your only defense is to deny the semantics of your previous statements. If you think somehow your arguments are holding their own then, not only are you out of your depth using these elementary, logically fallacious, distractionary, transparent debating tactics, but you're more of an idiot than I gave you credit for ;)

ah ok, you are going to descend into name calling and foot stamping ....& you were doing so well.

The bottom line is VG, your suggestion that a taxi driver or someone with no qualifications can set economic policy just as well as someone with a PHD in economics because economics is basically a wheel of fortune that cannot be predicted ...is frankly flawed ...even if 10 billion people think I'm wrong on that, I don't care, I know I'm right.

I like how people try to draw crowds behind their point, like it somehow gives their argument strength, saying Everyone or We instead of I ..essentially it just means your weak minded & lack confidence in what you are saying.

Well given how the 'success' or or otherwise of an economic policy is subjective, there is, surely, no wrong or right, better or worse, way of doing it, so how can you be 'right'? It's like saying a PHD in Fine Art can paint a better picture than a 2 year old and insisting so.

just plain wrong, I don't think many people would have trouble recognizing a healthy economy, the positive/negative economic indicators have already been mentioned in this thread, you can read back and find them.

Yes, if such a thing existed, I would expect a PHD in fine art to produce better artwork than a 2 year old.

You don't think so? How many 2 year olds have their work in the Tate or is it predominately filled by works produced by adults who trained and learned their craft?

Your analogy is not really fully compatible to this discussion as Art is not a science, but art does have a technical side that requires learning so I guess it stands up some in supporting my argument, but not yours.

So should he have changed his 'we' to 'I' and asked himself the question?
