ok, i have been searching high and low and going nowhere. I'm trying to figure at the addressing schemes to the SNES, EPROMS used, etc etc etc.... I have a super mario allstars cart that i got ahold of, its dead. black screen. every other game has played, but this one. Now, i changed the MAD-1 and the CIC chip, same result, so i know it has to have a bad ROM IC. it has 2 8mbit ROMs, 16mbit total cartridge space. the 27C080s, and 27C801s are rare and kinda expensive, buti thought about programming these chips with the SMC rom split into regular binary 8mbit ROMs. I seen this faq: http://nintendoallstars.w.interia.pl/romlab/sch_v02.txt that shows you how to wire 4 chips into a 2-chip cart with extended address decoding. His explanation shows how to wire 4 27C080s into the cart. But the 040s/4001 are much cheaper and more plentiful. What would I have to do to wire 4 4001s to total 16mbit to make allstars boot and work again? Thanks. (I rather do this than to get a new cart, just in case i want to play another game, ill burn the ROM).
I didn't get a thing of what you said, but I am still impressed that some people can understand how electronics work
