    :sigh:

Why do we have to do this? Why does it seem that people (especially that damn Guardian paper) feel the need to slam, criticize, torment, bad-mouth and subsequently aggravate us - let alone stereotype all Americans who aren't liberal as "gun-toting, bible-waving, gay-bashing rednecks"? It's gone well past light hearted humor as of late because of the sheer volume. Do you see any American here quoting anything referring Britons as tea-toting stuck ups with bad teeth? What makes Liberals any better than Republicans? *I* am a Republican, but I'm as far from redneck as anyone else on this board, I don't own and have never even shot a gun and I have 3 friends and a cousin who are gay/lesbians.

Its probably got more to do with the president that you elected rather than you personally.

Maybe so, but that distinction hasn't been established.

Well, since the American public elected him to represent them to the rest of the world .....

I am not calling you an idiot or anything like that ... just pointing out the above point.

Edit - And if you didnt vote for him, you are in the minority and the newspaper is referring to the majority.

Nopes, I am not insinuating or saying anything. I am just re-stating what the newspaper might have been doing.

I have nothing against the American public. The few Americans I know are pretty nice people.

But as for the Government ? I don't know ... don't particularly like their methods of going around forcing their opinions/ideas on the rest of the world.

    Down boy.. Heel... ;)

Actually, I don't think that anyone is insinuating this, but no one goes out of their way NOT to reinforce the stereotype.

Fair enough, but it just seems strange to me how the US people can re-elect a Government that is pretty much detested worldwide and then wonder why people don't think highly of them...

I understand where you are coming from, but what I can't understand is how the rest of the world can't seem to realize that no matter what the consequences are, it's not your election. In addition to this, it doesn't even seem that anyone actually took the time to investigate the opposition (Kerry) before making any judgements. To most of us, it just seems that people wanted Kerry to win simply and only because he isn't GW Bush.

But the consequences affect us so much- what the hell do you expect us to do? Bury our heads in the sand and stick our arses in the air whilst Dubya screws us?

Whats your point? A fscking trained monkey would do a better job at US-World relations than your "my way or the highway" cowboy.

There are reasons why a huge volume of people wanted anyone except Bush...

It's just funny how all you people can do is make fun of Bush and Bush supporters. With all the crap the British newspaper feeds you, im not suprised...
You act like Bush did it all by himself like he decided lets go to war one day. The entire US Govt was involved with going to war and the majority of the US people were behind it, how is this hard to understand? You people just dont want to understand, you content with blameing 1 person for the worlds problems.

My point is that if you actually looked at the meat of Kerry's foreign policies, they were nearly idential to Bush and eventhough he denied it, The only major differences were at the surface only.

If everyone was behind them, then everyone is justified in not thinking very highly of you ... Not very hard to understand.

The war IMO was not started or carried out properly. It was a knee-jerk reaction. Someone bombed America, lets go and kick some arse - It doesnt matter whose arse or where.

The only thing wrong with how the war was started was that we should have started it sooner. And not carried out properly, we should have had more men on the ground. And yes someone bombed america, so what should we do just sit back and let it happen again? This time we acted first.
