Damn right to! Its not NCsoft's fault that the people who were playing the game were using the char creation tools to create famous looking superhero's!

Very good indeed. I wonder what the settlement entailed.

Sounds like one of the most friendly law suits of heard of in a while. If on the otherhand it was sony going after them it'd be closer to a 1 billion dollar infringment suit mixed with them going after everybody that purchased the game for another million dollars.

the "similar" characters looked nothing like the actual ones. If you use the copyrighted name they change your name to something like "generic hero." In all reality, we can agree that the people that try to copy characters from other sources are tasteless n00bs who are unable to think for themselves.

I'm still confused by the whole thing in a way.. as well as disgusted at society and the level of suing and latching onto products or concepts of those products.

If a mother makes a wolverine costume from a "make your own super hero costume creation kit" that resembles a known super hero, would that make the costume kit liable?

I can sort of understand where Marvel was coming from.. but then again.. I most certainly sort of dont understand where they were coming from...

well not all. although all my toons are original, i see no problem with anyone living out chilhood fantasies as thier fave hero. yes it is not as creative but to say any and all people who create a lookalike are noobs is wrong. who the hell doesn't want to be spider-man, wolverine, etc? i was really pissed when marvel started all this cause people that are making these lookalikes are the same ones buying comics and making marvel what it is. so next time u see that cyclops lookalike please don't assume it is just some dumb noob. they are just fan boys/girls living out fantasies which is what gaming is all about.
