I pre-ordered and just got today my copy of Mass Effect 2. Install went ok no problem, configuration as well, but when I press Play button I get this message:

I have newest drivers and everything and I checked that I have physyx enabled. Tried to install one from the disc, but it only says that the version I have is newer and it quits. Installed DirectX from the disc, also to no avail, any I deas guys??? I'm really desperate to play :D

It requires a specific version of physx. Had a mate with same problem. Try uninstalling both the game and physx, then reinstall just the game.

I had the exact same problem.

You need to use the PhysX drivers on the disk. Uninstall yours from the Start menu (just PhysX not all your nVidia drivers).

Once that's done you should be able to install the PhysX drivers on the disk.

I can't get to the splash screen, just CTD's.

Stop scaring me chaps, my preload unlocks in 4 hours and I don't want to know if the possibility of these issues pop up is remotely existent!

Well, just to let you know, it all works now. You have to go to your Control Panel, uninstall PhysX only, leaving the drivers intact, then install physx from the Software folder on Disc 1. Works like a charm.
Nvidia just released new beta drivers which adds more support for Mass Effect 2 but I do not dare to try, game is soooo good! I'll try after I finish. Anybody of you tried downloading the new drivers?

im having this same problem, ME2 worked about a month ago, and the only changes that have been made was i moved all my game files from c drive to d drive to save space, all my other games and files that i moved work, but im still having the physx pop up error when i try to run ME2 only, i have tried a lot of these fixes, uninstalling reinstalling the game, AND the nvidia drivers, running without the drivers, all the obvious ones. I downloaded ME2 off steam though, and therefore cannot install the drivers meant for the game on the disk. any suggestions?
